Description
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, August 9, 2015, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister.
SERMON DESCRIPTION
In his poem Like The Water, Wendell Berry writes:
Like the waterof a deep stream, love is always too much.
We did not make it.Though we drink till we burst,we cannot have it all,or want it all.
In its abundanceit survives our thirst....we keep returning to its rich watersthirsty.
We enter, willing to die, into the commonwealth of its joy.
This Sunday we are holding one combined Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. instead of our usual three services. Occasionally, we do this to bring our community together across our differences to feel our deep and authentic unity in a Love Beyond Belief. Water and thirst unite us no matter who we are or what we believe. Water will be the theme of the day.
We will also have lots of fun games and activities involving water for children and people of all ages throughout the morning.
