How far us it from here to there?

The distance is measured in years:

The days being the events in our lives

all marked with our laughter and tears.

Oft times in life we make a wrong turn

and take roads that lead to who knows where;

We wander aimlessly but searching

for our way from here to there.

We wander the highways and byways and

our burden seems too heavy to bear;

We stumble and fall but keep trying

to find our way from here to there.

To help a poor soul with a heavy load,

one who has suffered more than his share;

This is a step in the direction

of going from here to there.

The love that we give and the kindness we show

is just part payment on our fare;

Belief, faith and forgiveness is payment in full

for going from here to there.

And after the long day is over,

when we’ve said our final prayer;

Jesus will come and
