Sharon Wainwright

Just a little bit about me…… I was born in December, 1946, in Moultrie, GA, but was raised in South Florida, to parents of German (mother), Irish and American Indian (father), descent. Fifth of six children, I left home at age sixteen, to “Conquer the World“. I’ve held many job positions, from waitress to business office supervisor, but retired from the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office, Starke, FL, in 2003. My husband, Donald, and I met in 1978, when he was my Platoon Sgt. In the army national guard, however, we did not marry until almost twenty-four years later, (I wasn’t through “Conquering the World“!). We have six children between us, but none together, and fourteen grandchildren, all of whom we adore. Writing, whether it be poetry, song lyrics or short stories, has always been a passion of mine. It was also my mother’s passion so I suppose I inherited it from her, however, God gave me whatever, if any, talent I have. That talent lay dormant for nearly thirty years, (while I was “Conquering the World“), and has only resurfaced in the past two years. I was always an avid reader until my eyesight started deteriorating. My husband and I live in a small, modest home at Kingsley Lake, just outside of Starke, FL, which is located about half way between the college town of Gainesville, and the big city of Jacksonville, FL. We enjoy, camping, fishing, yard work, family and numerous friends.

    This book is dedicated to:

    Everyone who has touched my life,

    Whether in good times or in bad;

    To all of you who made me laugh,

    And stood by me when I was sad;

    Who provided me with a shoulder,

    On which I could rest my head;

    When times were really tough for me,

    And through things I really did dread.

    For each of you have a special place,

    Down deep within my heart;

    Each and every relationship,

    With you, became a part;

    A part of this book that I have penned,

    From experiences I’ve been given;

    Whether good or bad, happy or sad,

    They’re from this life I’m living.

    Many of you are still in my life,

    And you are the ones I treasure;

    You’ve helped me through many a time,

    And I thank you beyond all measure;

    As for those of you no longer around,

    I can only relay to you this;

    You really should have stuck it out,

    You’ll never know what you’ve missed.

    It’s been a blast . . . .

    A Note Of Apology

    In my first endeavor at writing poetry, a book titled Words of Solace, that was published in December 2009, you will find a poem on page seven, titled, Our Gazebo.

    When I wrote this poem it was never my intention to slight anyone or

    leave anyone out. I just penned the words as they came. But it was

    brought to my attention that my wonderful husband had help from friends and family in the
