About this ebook

These poems were written over a period of about 55 years.
My first poem was the one entitled, Words of Me. I was sitting
in Biology class and in the ninth grade when I wrote it. My husband
would sometimes give me a subject and ask me to write a poem about it.
He suggested I write about a severe ice storm that occurred in 1994.
Thus was born Ice Storm '94 . Everything in that poem actually
happened just as I wrote it (even the guinea). Yonder in Glory was
written shortly after my mother died. It, as well as many of the other
poems, were written as songs, but none were set to music. The melodies
are all just in my head.
Many of my poems are written as a testament to my Savior,
Jesus Christ; and in them, I give Him praise. Without Him I could
not have written a poem or sung a song.
These poems have given me great pleasure throughout the
years and I hope they bring you much joy.

She graduated from Baldwyn High School in 1962 and attended North East Mississippi Junior College for two years. She's been writing poetry since before she graduated from high school. While attending NEMJC, she met her husband, Ronald. They were married in 1964. They have two sons, Trent (Ginny) and Jim (Christy), and three grandsons, John Isaac, Ben and Noah. She and Ronald built a home in 1971 on the Roberts home place in Alpine Community in Union County where their grandsons are the seventh generation. NO ORDINARY TREE

It’s no ordinary tree that grows near the creek

That runs wild and free through our land.

Its far reaching branches have cast a shade

Over many a hot, thirsty man.

    The Chickasaw Indians rested and camped;

And here they buried their dead.

They made their weapons; they ground their corn.

And so their children were fed.

    Our ancestors came as pioneers

And they settled upon this sod.

The tree saw as they struggled and worked.

And when work was done, they praised
