Frogs on Ponds - Hope Paris Mendelssohn
Springtime
Springtime is the time of year
For daffodils, butterflies and
Cotton-tailed hares
For lambs rejoicing in the fields
And foals being tended by their mares
This, I was told by my mother you see
When I was nearly turning three
And on my birthday, when I turned three
We invited all my friends around for tea
Some were 5 and 4 and 7
Others were nearly gone to heaven
Grandma came and grandpa too
I knew it was him; ’cause he hadn’t
Laced his shoe
Maman
Maman, Maman
I wished upon a star tonight
The star you said that shone so
