About this ebook

This book is about heroes and victims, often playing both roles at the same time. The storied characters are common people, generally country people, dealing with the affairs of life and of the heart. There is humor and there is pathos. There is also hope. This book has poems for men and for women, for the old and for the young people. They are slices of real life served in digestible portions. There are elements of war in this book from both perspective of the dove and the hawk. Unlike many offerings in the world today, the contents are clear and easily understood. I know that people today will get much enjoyment to reading the poems in the book.

Hearts and Mines - Terrence Weatherbe

    Along The Way

On the day we were born,

    We began that journey home,

Even though they’re many stops along the way

There are prizes to be won.

There are love songs to be sung,

And tears to be cried along the way.

When we reach forks in the road,

    Sometimes bearing heavy loads,

And weary from the turmoil of the day,

We can set that burden down,

Plant our knees upon the ground,

And ask the Lord for help Along the Way.

On the day we first believed

    Our worst nightmare he relieved,

    His precious blood the price

    He had to pay.

We are children in his sight,

    Stumbling blindly in the night,

Not sure of our next step Along the Way.

    Cowboys, Christians, Black and White

    Lonely Women of the night,

Seeking love, or just a place to stay

We’re all on that journey home,

    No matter where we roam,

His light will guide our steps Along the Way.

Though our fate is in our hands

Every time we take a stand,

Sometimes courage isn’t easy to display.

There is one that wants it known

    That we are not alone,

And matches every step Along the Way.

    A Special Place

There’s a feeling that I’ve always had inside me

And it comforts me to think it might be true.

While some folks might consider it irreverent

I bet they’d drop their hymn books if they knew.

Some people dream of heaven and see mansions

A Member’s Club that barred by Pearly Gates

Perhaps they see Saint Peter contemplating

In some big room where every sinner waits.

No one knows what goes on Way Up Yonder

But I know we’ll each find out as time goes by

And if I could take just one possession with me

It’s only Country music that’ll fly.

Now it isn’t that I don’t like heavy metal

I’ve sung and played my share of rock and roll

But if there’s just one thing I’ve learned in this life

It’s that only Country music fills my soul.

I believe there’s A SPECIAL PLACE in Heaven

A place where only Country gets you in,

Where Patsy, Hank and Conway headline nightly

And June and Johnny sing your favorite hymn.

I believe there’s A SPECIAL PLACE for cowboys

Whose songs could pierce our soul just like a sword.

A SPECIAL PLACE just made for Country singers

Still singing Country music for the Lord.

    Coal Miner’s Prayer

Hey Lord can you hear me

    Way down here below?

    I’m looking at a cave-in

And my time is running low

These boulders sitting in my path

    My puny hands can’t roll

    The air is
