Move Over, Shakespeare, Here Comes Granny

About this ebook
This book of poems is a reflection of my great love for so many things in life, starting with my very dear and cherished biker husband, Frank Charbonneau, with whom I enjoyed thousands of miles of travel on our Harley. We also enjoyed our life in a log house perched high on a mountaintop and raised eight kids there in the summer and in Florida in the winter. With my husband a Naval Commander for twenty-seven years, we were always "on the go," and I found plenty to write about to this day: our "cabin on the hill," my "very dear Dr. Caputo," our Harley rides; even a very noisy blue jay and my brother's death in WWII. When I was a child, rhymes kept running through my head, and I would write them down. When I first met "Doc," I was so impressed by his loving concern. I wrote him a poem, thinking, He probably will never bother to read it; but how surprised I was when he showed me he had it laminated and it was hanging in his office! That encouraged me to write him a new one every time I went to see him, and one day, he suggested we put them all together in a book! This book depicts almost a complete story of my life with many of its joys and tears.

A Good Man
To Doc
God bless the man with sunny heart
Who’s found in life his place,
And serves his God and fellow man
With humble, gentle grace.
The world has need of such a man
To lift our hearts from gloom,
And in life’s darkest place plants
The flowers of love to bloom.
He seeks not as some men seek
For fame and high degrees…
But his good name will ever shine
Throughout eternity!
—E. C.
A Letter to Doc
Oh, Doctor dear, I’m overdue
To come and spend some time with you
And talk of Harleys and days gone by
When to E’town Hospital I did fly!
You saved my leg, you healed my spine,
Now my ancient body feels just fine!
You healed my cat bite, cellulitis too…
There’s no other Doc
in the world like you!
—E. C.
A Letter to Dr. Caputo
