Endless Perspective of Life - Eric Visconti
An Endless Perspective of Life
Preface
Life is a journey, a tapestry, and a story. All of these works have been arranged chronologically according to when they were written, as they detail my life journey thus far. In these poems I explore foundational beliefs and emotions in their effect on knowledge and understanding through the many wonderful experiences of life. Though I can only express these concepts in my understanding and words, I have had the honor of sharing such things with people of many religions and cultures causing them to feel free in sharing with me.
In difficult times, may these works give you strength to go on. In joyous times, may these works help bind hearts together in lifelong relations. Above all, may these works inspire you as much as my wife has inspired me and helped me to become the father and husband I am. I dedicate this book to Ewa, my soulmate and inspiration.
-Eric Visconti
Chapter 1 - Life Foundations
Love is just the letting go of fear.
– John Denver
In my earlier poems I dedicated a great many words to the awe inspiring forces of faith and love that help form what a person can and will be. I have found faith and love to be inseparable, and directly opposed to the powers of doubt and fear. As we all have faced great fears, some unspeakable, I have shared this first collection with people who have endured the greatest hardships. As they have shared how much these works meant to them in hard times, I developed the determination to share them with you. We each have a gift. It does not matter what that gift is. As long as we share that in other lives around us, our life becomes a treasure in the world. May you continue to share your gift, even if you are not always aware of the good results which you make happen.
Dance of the Clouds
Within the seemingly endless,
Within the domain of the winged birds,
Within the moisture and currents,
They charge forth across the sky,
Insurmountable great white herds.
Strong wind whipping,
Worlds of white wonder,
Building mountains across the sky.
See them darken in sullen rage,
Releasing lightening flashes of fury,
Furiously raging against the stars in thunder.
Gentle wind whisking,
Churning creamy confections for the eye,
Delicate creations light as the air,
Fashioning fancies of beauty,
As a lady fashions her fine hair.
Shades and forms fly,
Twirling with style and grace,
Like the white dress of the dancing bride,
Elegance in motion,
Flowing ribbon and floating lace,
With every careful motion,
She brightens every caring face.
As I take time considering,
I consider to be no mystery why,
God in His excellent wisdom,
Made the clouds to dance across the sky.
Precious Rose
Once created, forever adored.
Reflection of Heavens beauty,
a pure fountain of Gods love.
The lovely redness of her joy,
becomes the blood of my life.
Surrounded by the sweet fragrance of her soul,
caressed by the warm blossom of her heart,
safe within the hand of God,
She is my precious rose.
My Eve Within Paradise
As I taste your joy through the life of your eyes,
May I also taste your deepest pain through tears.
Your priceless eyes mean everything to me.
Your smile is the sweetest treasure,
Your laughter riches without measure.
Yet just one of your precious tears,
My soul values as infinitely more dear,
Soft diamond falling down your cheek,
Sweet symbol without one word speaks,
Saying your whole heart is given to me.
May your language in my soul and heart,
provide the key that swiftly imparts,
empathic understanding of your blood to me.
To this end I will fight,
So that our minds may fully unite,
Just as our hearts became one,
In spite of distance and chance,
When God joined our souls across land and sea.
My human nature at times confounds me,
When I can let a drop of bitter water,
turn into a dark and turbulent sea.
Are you not of much greater value to me?
My life I would not hesitate to shed for thee!
How can this possibly be?
It is my foolish human nature within.
Lord Jesus, please forgive me,
and bind myself with Ewa in you,
with prayer, communication, and your love,
that we may be together for all eternity.
Let me be there, Ewa, to wake you from your worst nightmare,
To help you see Jesus in His righteous light of day,
As we strive through difficult day towards our future,
Until we take hold of hand each night and pray.
Let me rejoice within your heart felt dreams,
And work to bring them to reality in every way.
But just in case the language of this poem is unclear to you,
I am praying that my heart is always dear to you.
For through all of my days regardless of circumstance,
Even if we are separated temporarily by earth and heaven,
I will never stop loving you.
Dulcinea
How is love defined?
Where can we find pure love?
Why do we stumble so long and so blind?
When the author of love stands waiting above.
An impossible love demanded the ultimate price.
Jesus loved us so much that he gave us His life.
He gave us His heart so that we may love true.
Then in answer to prayer, He gave me you.
In the judging eyes of others I am not sanely similar,
In comparison to Don Quixote I appear similarly insane.
Seeing life through Christ's love,
Seeing love through Christ's suffering,
Seeing suffering seeking Christ's strength,
In my weakness He is made strong.
My eyes enlightened with His light,
While others stand seeing the beauty of your form,
My eyes are opened to the form of your beauty.
Agape love in your eyes,
A crazy gentleman by your side,
You are my Dulcinea.
In the Garden of Eden God took you from my side.
With His hands did He form you,
With crystal blade carving you from the purest gold,
Every curve and every color,
From feet of fine porcelain to agape eyes,
Filled with a humble soul full of God's sweet love,
The amber nectar pours forth thick and pure,
Covering my heart like honey from a comb.
In a sin filled world Christ found us,
He clothed us in His white righteousness.
In answered prayer you found me,
And clothed me in your silken love.
Circle complete Jesus fuses us into one soul,
A miraculous feat from above!
I will praise the Lord all of my days.
My heart sings, and I will exalt His name!
My eyes fill with tears of joy that flow free,
He released my captive heart as he released my captive soul,
Healing our pain He made us whole when He made you part of me.
I will sing unto the Lord Yahweh,
And magnify His son Immanuel.
As I testify of answered prayer with the ring I wear,
Of she which my heart doth bear.
How can I thank God for saving my life?
How can I thank Him for sending you to me?
With you by my side I will glorify His name!
It will take me all of eternity.
Flowers in the Ice
My life is as a field of diamonds in the snow,
Precious moments shared with you,
Our love and joy in full view,
Perfectly in the freedom of God's will,
That by our life others may know,
God has a beautiful plan for them too.
Every moment is a treasure,
Every detail is a taste,
Every image is forever carved in my mind,
Every color in sparkling detail,
Every day I am in awe of the beauty that I find,
By your precious side.
Bold and unforgettable,
We stand in a world besieged by cold.
We are like the image carved by frost,
When glass is covered in snow.
We are as flowers in the ice.
Israel, Heart of Faith
Written in Tiberias on January 9, 1996
An emerald shines surrounded by the rock and sands of time,
on seven hills the sacred city stands in stones of lime.
A brief few days of spiritual splendor, and now its time to depart,
Yet my burning spirit can never leave,
Israel, home of my heart.
From Galilee to salty sea,
she once was barren and bare.
Till Hebrew heart and hardened hand,
healed her with love and care.
The heart, spirit, sweat, and blood,
of God's people became the key.
To burst the floodgate of Yahweh's blessings,
releasing Israel's life and beauty.
Land of atonement, grace and love,
worked by the Almighty's nail scarred hand.
He has sealed us forever in His love,
as Christ's precious blood flowed into the sand.
Ultimate sacrifice! Man's redemption price!
Christ Jesus died for me.
Perfect love expressed in this land,
I humbly accepted from His righteous hand,
And life for all of eternity.
Soon the engines roar and my plane will soar,
tearing my heart from here.
Beloved faces fill my mind,
as my soul bursts forth in tears.
Perhaps one day I shall return,
to God's precious Holy Land.
Yet my hope rests not in this,
but Yeshua's sweetest hand.
For every day our Jewish-Christian souls do breathe apart,
I know that through Christ Jesus's redemptive hand,
we shall live eternally,
Together forever in God's heart
Family
As the sin rises and sets each day, each day presents a new world,
Each person on the boundary between an unreachable past,
Everyone facing an unknowable future.
Through any circumstance one truth will last,
We will face it together.
Hearts become bound by unusual bonds,
Intertwined through circumstance and a common place,
Through personal history other lives help trace,
A portrait of who we are and will be.
We are parents and children tied by blood and soul,
We are friends who make our friends' lives whole,
We are comrades working towards a common goal.
Some hearts become seperated by time,
Sometimes the distance becomes the means.
Some hearts become distanced by etermity,
Or so the illusion would seem.
For where could we go to be truly apart?
When a part of God's plan we will always be.
As you look deep within your heart for the truth,
You will know we will always be family.
One Heart, One Soul, One Lord
January 15, 1996 proposal to marry Ewa
Two hearts, one prayer, the King of Kings,
Creator, Master of all things.
Heard the heart felt cry of our soul,
In answer to prayer,
Holding us in His nail scarred hands,
He united our lives,
Making us whole.
How can I comprehend His majesty?
For a worm such as I He died on Calvary!
He blessed me again with a call to the ministry!
And
