Joyce Shafer, formerly NYC-based Life Empowerment Coach and author, now relocated to Lafayette, Louisiana, has a Business Administration background from the University of Louisiana, plus decades of extensive continued education that covers topics from business to behavior, with a focus on human dynamics. Simultaneous to moving through the ranks at a top CPA firm in Louisiana in the 1980s, she created and published Network Quarterly: A Connection for Like Minds Seeking Personal and Planetary Enlightenment, which led her to interact with such movers and shakers as Wayne Dyer, Alan Cohen, Dan Millman, Chris Griscom, Stuart Wilde, and many others integral to the self-empowerment movement and model of that time. She is a Silva Mind Method graduate and trained as a Level 1 Reiki practitioner.
While living atop the Cumberland Gap in Tennessee prior to moving to New York City, she implemented a workshop and one-on-one coaching called Take This Life and Live It! at the Appalachian Women’s Guild, a nonprofit established in the state’s most distressed county, created to assist unskilled women to become trained for the workplace. During this time, she was published in several periodicals including The University of Science and Philosophy’s quarterly magazine. She also presented at the International Forum for New Sciences, and did numerous radio interviews and hour-long programs interacting with callers.
In 2005, Shafer trained as a Life Empowerment Coach with Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). In 2008-2009, she enhanced her training with Coaching From Spirit. She is a weekly columnist for United Press International's Religion and Spirituality Forum, as well as posted on numerous online venues, and winner of Embrace the Positive’s February 2009 Wise Owl Award.
Joyce has written a number of books and e-books including, I Don’t Want to be Your Guru, but I Have Something to Say (considered by some to be the contemporary of the perennial Jonathan Livingston Seagull); Reinvent Yourself: Refuse to Settle for Less in Life and Business; How to Have What You REALLY Want and Law of Attraction Alchemy: Change Lead Thoughts into Gold.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have guidance you could turn to when life throws a curve onto your path… guidance that didn’t take long to get to or go through? That’s what you’ll find here—25 chapters to help you pause and reflect on what to do, on what you did, or on what you want to consider as you move forward.

Sometimes, you just need a boost up or a gentle nudge in the right direction. Sometimes, you just need… something… but you aren’t sure what. If such a moment happens for you and you aren’t certain which category applies, close your eyes, take three deep breaths, allow that the appropriate message will reveal itself, and open the book. Trust that the writing that comes up for you is the one you need at that moment.
But, it’s more than just reading and thinking about what you’ve read. You want to remember to read then feel your response to what you’ve read. Life operates on feelings. Universal Laws are driven by your feelings. And though there may be times you wish it weren’t true, you are driven by feelings. That’s why a message that helps you get into better feelings is beneficial: the words are from someone who is objective about what you’re experiencing. It’s like you’re speaking with someone you trust, someone who cares about you and how well you’re doing, but isn’t as attached as you are to what’s got your attention or the negative story you’re telling yourself. An objective person can offer a different perspective; perhaps ask you one or more questions you haven’t asked yourself, which are often even more important than the answers.
