Everyone was talking about the new job opening on Santa’s bulletin board so, of course, I had to go check it out. The tidbits of conversation I was overhearing, before people realized I was listening in and stopped talking, sounded quite tantalizing. It annoyed me to no end that they all still saw me as a kid, and not mature enough to participate in their grownup conversations. I was twenty-one, for heaven’s sake—I could drink now….how much more mature did I need to be?

Where you headed, Stacy? Debbie asked, as I passed the pretzel shop.
