Hmm? Theo stared into my eyes as he sang and I could almost—

Isobel! The picture on my big screen television froze, blurring Theo’s face.

What? I snatched the remote from my friend Cassie’s hands and hit play again.

Well, for one thing, I want to watch something besides a bunch of middle age has-beens playing eighties hair band songs.

"They are not has-beens. This is Theo’s group, Midnight Star. They’ve opened for—"

Not interested, Izz. I am interested in planning your eighteenth birthday party. It’s coming up fast, and nothing’s been scheduled. We have to figure out where to have it, who to invite, how you want your cake to look, what you want on the menu…

I’m listening. I bit my lip as Theo performed his guitar solo, hips jerking and long hair flying around his shoulders as his body arched almost horizontal.

That does it. The screen went dark and suddenly all I could see was our reflections peering back at us from the mirrorlike finish.
