Day 1: What’s Going On? (Mind)
Go head to head with your journal.
Awareness is the first step toward making a change – whether it’s within yourself, or in the world around you. When you approach situations with an open mind and clear eyes, you’re able to recognize obstacles and explore possible solutions. But awareness doesn’t always come naturally. Too often we do everything possible to avoid dealing with what’s really going on. We push away warning signs. We put off examining what’s causing problems, or standing in the way of our goals.
Have you ever had a reaction that you didn’t quite understand? Something happened that suddenly sent you into a rage or into tears, and you thought, Whoa, where did that come from?
You, like all of us, have emotional triggers that have power over you until you learn to gain power over them. The first step to doing so is understanding what sets you off, and why. You can do this through journaling.
In this course, you will break the habit of avoidance, and practice cultivating awareness and mindfulness in your life. For the first three days, you’ll start this process by checking in with your mind, your body and your spirit. You’ll ask simple questions and answer them honestly in your journal, getting reacquainted with your whole self.
