    Journaling is a therapeutic form of self-expression that holds many health benefits. Throughout this challenge, you’ll begin to develop a stronger connection with your source of inner wisdom, helping you achieve your ultimate goal: to take control of your well-being.

    It’s easy to neglect your health when life gets busy. Busyness often makes it difficult to stay focused on what’s most important. When you feel overwhelmed, it may seem easier to set aside your needs—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—than to invest the time required to support them.

    But each of these core elements is vital to your well-being, and you can only achieve optimal health when you are able to keep them balanced in a holistic way.

    To put it in simpler terms, imagine that your well-being is a plant. For it to thrive, it needs the right care: plenty of water and sunlight, nutrient-rich soil, and room to grow. If you take away one of those essential ingredients, the plant will suffer and wither.

    The same is true for you.

    How does it feel when you are lacking something important—nourishing food, adequate sleep, or leisure time? In those situations, you may feel tempted to find an easy, short-term solution to treat the symptom instead of getting to the root of the problem. Perhaps you take a pill or drink a cup of coffee or push yourself harder to overcome feeling sick, tired, or anxious. Unfortunately, this approach doesn’t consider your long-term wellness.

    The good news is you don’t have to keep feeling this way. You have the power to take ownership of your wellness and change your life for the better, using your journal as your guide.

    My Story

    I have experienced the life-changing health benefits of journaling firsthand. When multiple sclerosis (MS) caused me to lose function and feeling in the right side of my body several years ago, I had to face the enormous challenge of teaching myself to write with my left hand. I began stream-of-consciousness journaling every day and learned far more than just how to be ambidextrous. I learned that journal writing is physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual therapy as well as the key to health and happiness.

    I am now journaling each day to restore my right side (as well as the rest of my body) to perfect health. The right side of my body is about 65%
