I cursed as I looked down at my watch. It was already a little past noon, much later than I had anticipated. My early brunch meeting with an old coworker had taken up quite a bit more time than planned. I rushed through the parking lot, frantically pressing the unlock button on my key.

As the familiar beeps of my car sounded, I tried to speed up, my heels clacking loudly on the floor as I rushed. I had to be careful, the last time I ran on heels, I had nearly tripped over my own feet, breaking my heels in the process and spraining my left ankle badly. After reaching my car, I hopped in, tossing my bag to the passenger side.

My phone rang as soon as I turned on the engine. I glanced down to see it was my friend, most likely wondering where I was. After a sigh, I pressed the button on my steering wheel to have my call routed through my car.

Hey girl, I answered.

Hey girl, really? Where are you? I thought we were meeting at noon, my friend responded.
