About this ebook

Other military spouses can be one of the biggest stressors in a wife’s life. From gossipers to back-biters to spouse shamers, the problem is reaching epidemic proportions, and many don’t know what to do about it. What if you could find a better way? Instead of attacking the problem-women head on or avoiding all women entirely, what if you could find women worth knowing and cherishing? No matter where you are, God placed around you women of great value, women who strive to love Him first, and women who want to love and encourage you. Instead of resigning yourself to a life of loneliness, let me show you who to avoid and what characteristics to look for in quality friends.

Author

Carrie Daws

Over the years, God rewrote Carrie’s dreams from being a corporate accountant to being a writer. With a background writing online weekly devotions, a mentor at the Christian Writer’s Guild encouraged her to try fiction. The writing monster she now barely keeps contained was born. Since then, she’s completed several inspirational fiction books and encouraging nonfiction for military spouses and new believers. After almost ten years in the US Air Force, Carrie’s husband medically retired, and they settled in North Carolina. With their three children all figuring out what they want to do in life after school, Carrie stays busy keeping up with her family and friends, loving on women, and entering story worlds via books and movies as much as she can.

While there are few resources out there written for the military spouse, most appear to be significantly more well rounded than this series. From a heavily Christian perspective, these books may be difficult to read and/or apply to the significant number of military spouses that are not Christian. Furthermore, the book talks about finding friends who are Christian, not other military spouses as a whole (as the title implies). It might be advantageous to rename the book as to reflect the fact that non-Christian military spouses need not apply to befriend those who heed the advice in this book.

INTRODUCTION

In 2014 Kathy Barnett and I coauthored The Warrior's Bride: Biblical Strategies to Help the Military Spouse Thrive. The book went to press, and word began to spread about this wonderful new resource written by two military wives.

While we are very happy with the book, we realized shortly after its release that we forgot to mention a couple of topics near to the hearts of many military families. After a lot of prayer and some discussion, we decided that instead of taking another year to write a second book, we would simply write additional chapters and release them individually. This not only allows us to get the chapters to you more quickly, but it also gives you the option to pick and choose only those chapters that affect you directly.

This is the fifth of six eBook shorts, released every three months during 2015 and the first half of 2016. We’ve already tackled potential problems with extended family, reintegration,
