One Woman’s Walk is based on my experiences. One Woman’s Walk (OWW) is designed for those who do not live a traditional white picket-fence-type life. Maybe you can relate if your husband does/doesn’t work forty hours a week, is/isn’t home every weekend, and does/doesn’t go to church with you every Sunday; in other words, your family is not picture perfect. The family in this book is a nontraditional family, a reflection of our western society that has become self-evident of our priorities. We revolve between stepfamilies, jobs that require you to work much more than a forty-hour workweek, required traveling, military deployments, and shift work…oh, I could go on and on, but you get the picture, right?

There will be skeptics about what is said in this book, but the only thing I ask of you is to read it with an open mind. Understand OWW was written from my perspective of how God has worked in my life. In this book, I am sharing with you the tidbits and scripture that God has given me over the years as I went through each thing. As you read the scriptures with each stage, know that God gave me this scripture to reflect Him in the situation—sometimes I saw it the right away, other times it would take me longer—yet I knew His word would bring me comfort if I let it. Hopefully you will be able to draw strength from my journey that will engage you to seek Him!

One Woman’s Walk is not an all the answers to life kind of book, but it is real! Keep in mind as you read, you are not alone; there are many men and women living in similar situations where life is challenging. Circumstances and situations vary, but never should we compare our lives or our resolutions. Use this book as an opportunity of encouragement to get through your journey triumphantly. As the Bible says, So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isa. 41:10, NIV).

We are all the children of God, if you are saved—that is, Jesus is living in you; you are utilizing Christ, our greatest instructor; and that you are applying and equipping yourself with His word to handle life itself. OWW is designed to let you know, not by comparing one life to another but by inspiration and sheer motivation, that God is always with you! The devil would have you think you are all alone in your situation or circumstances; to be honest, that is just a lie!

Don’t be afraid to take off the rose-colored glasses you wear and step out on faith that God is going to supply all your needs. Sometimes we just do not consider the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jer. 29:11, NIV).

Through this book, hopefully, you will find a new way of observing God in your life. When you go through the hard times in life, such as a loss, you often can’t see or maybe you just don’t want to see God in your life. When you go through disappointment or are extremely stressed you may say, "God, oh my
