Introduction

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have a sister, especially during times in my life that were difficult. So, when God told me to write a book geared toward women I researched the things women had the most concerns (stress) with in life, and made sure to write the book as one sister talking intimately to another. This was cathartic for me after I realized all of the stressful women’s issues I had overcome or experienced in my own life.

Then I added some of the topics I talked the most about with my girlfriends, and Lola’s Prayer Cocktail came to be. It’s a cocktail because in each of the topic specific areas addressed, I added quotes, anecdotes, and personal devotions. So, as the prayers provide a foundation for talking to God during various times in your life, the other parts of the cocktail recipe are meant for encouragement. The 10 topics can be read separately as it applies to your life, or as a daily devotion straight through. Each topic is not contingent upon another.

The Bible stories are added to remind us of the trials and tribulations women have always faced, and reinforce that we’ve always been overcomers. The goal is to bring these Biblical women to life, as I imagine their feelings and emotions, and illustrate them for you. If you want to read the originals of each one of the inspirational stories I also provide the Biblical reference.
