About this ebook
This is the first story about the adventures undertaken by 7 year old Helen James.
Far across space the ‘Visitants’ are patrolling the universe searching out Galaxies, Star Systems or Planets that are on the verge of destruction. The ‘Visitants’ are a blue haze and they are not able to intervene and put things right but they have recruited 5 ‘Goods’, from across the universe.
Each of the ‘Goods’ has a unique goodness and this enables them to put things right. When the needs be the ‘Visitants’ send one of their family to collect the most suitable ‘Good’ for this task.
Unlike the ‘Visitants’ who live for ever, the ‘Goods’ live only for as long as is the norm for their home planet and when, after 200 years, Tyred, their most experienced ‘Good’ passed away they needed to find a replacement.
A search of the whole universe was carried out by 4 of the experienced ‘Visitants’ who brought back a list each with 6 names. From these 24 names only three names were brought forward to the selection panel - Josp from the Whirlwind Galaxy, Veist from the Malin Galaxy and the youngest of them all, 7 year old Helen James from planet Earth, in the Milky Way Galaxy.
Helen had no idea that the future of her life was being decided far across the universe. It was only as she was sitting on the naughty step that she discovered her life was changing.
Hyming, the ‘Visitant’ assigned to transport Helen, wrapped himself around her and before she knew what was happening he had taken her out of her house, up into the sky and streaking across the Milky Way. In seconds the Milky Way was far behind them.
Helens biggest concern was not where she was being taken but that she would be in even bigger trouble if her mother discovered she was not sat on the naughty step. Hyming reassured Helen that he would have her back on the step before that happened.
Hyming returned to ‘The Visitants’ home cloud and presented Helen to Zacred, their leader and his father. It was now that Helen was told why she was there.
The problem in the Yunkery Star System was that the Yunkery Alliance were organising the bullying of one of the planets in the star system. Before an all out war started Helen had to stop the bullies and save millions of lives.
Hyming would take Helen wherever she needed to go and once she was there he would leave a thin film of himself around Helen. This allowed Helen to not only communicate with the beings she encountered but it protected her from their environment.
To Helen bullies are bullies. If you weaken their support and make those being bullied stronger you have your solution. The only trouble was that it may work in her classroom but across a Star System was a different matter.
When Helen arrived back home and Hyming placed her back on the Naughty Step, she had been away for less than a minute.

Chapter 1 - We need a new ‘Good’
Far across the universe are a being called ‘The Visitants’ who have been patrolling the universe for longer than they would care to remember. Their roll is to identify Galaxies, Star Systems or Planets which are on the point of bringing about not only their own but others total destruction. Once identified it is the ‘Visitants’ destiny to stop this happening.
The only problem is that the ‘Visitants’ could not carry out the necessary actions to put it right as the ‘Visitants’ are just a collection of blue hazes with no physical substance.
To overcome this they have recruited a group of 5 ‘Goods’ from across the universe. These beings all have a special inner goodness and it is because of this that they could generally save the situations.
Although the ‘Visitants’ family lived forever it was not the case for the ‘Goods’. They were governed by the life cycle applicable for their own species.
This was the case when Tyred, the ‘Good’ from the Centaurus A Galaxy passed away after 200 years of life. The ‘Visitants’ had lost their most experienced ‘Good’.
Over time they knew that having 5 ‘Goods’ was the correct number. Any less and their selection for the correct ‘Good’, for any particular task, was limited and with a greater number the choice became complicated. A replacement would be needed and quickly.
Zacred, the leader of the ‘Visitants’ sent out four of the most experienced members of the family. Oling and Askyng were sent to the outer parts of the universe while Dering and Curing were sent into the inner parts of the universe.
The four of them were to search all the Galaxies and find a being that had that inner goodness and so could take the place of Tyred.
Each one of the 4 ‘Visitant’ was expected to find six candidates each to put before a panel. They had to be able to show that these beings had the necessary goodness to carryout the tasks the ‘Visitants’ needed them for.
It was not long before Dering returned to the cloud with his list of six beings he considered to be ‘Goods’. He was immediately taken before the initial selection panel which was made up of Zacred, their leader, Lyking, his wife and Weting.
This panel went through Dering’s candidates but only one was acceptable to be placed before the full panel for selection as a replacement for Tyred. Josp was from the Whirlpool Galaxy.
By this time Curing had already returned with his six candidates but he had to wait until they had completed their examination of Dering’s list. Once the panel had completed their deliberations Curing was called to the panel with his list of candidates.
Again, from his list of beings, there was only one the panel agreed to consider and that was Veist from the Malin Galaxy. There was another one that Lyking, and Weting agreed was a ‘Good’ but Zacred said that she was far too young to be considered.
It wasn’t long before both Oling and Askyng returned and in turn they presented their lists.
None of the candidates that these two had listed were at all suitable as a replacement for Tyred. The panel thanked them for their effort.
Now they had two beings that were to be considered. Zacred called in Hyming to make up the full panel to select a new ‘Good’.
We have Josp from the Whirlpool Galaxy and Veist from Malin Galaxy,
Zacred said, addressing the full selection panel.
We also have Helen James from the Milky Way Galaxy,
Lyking stated.
No. That one is far too young to be any use as a ‘Good’,
Zacred stated.
Not being present when the initial selections were being made Hyming asked to see the reports of these two beings together with the one which both Weting and Lyking thought should be considered to replace Tyred.
Father, from the three of these names, Helen is the only one with true goodness. Josp is unreliable in that although he is good for his planet, he selects when he is good and then only if it is to benefit him,
Hyming stated.
Veist is not much better. He has to be made to help,
Weting said.
Yes but Veist always does good things when he does help,
Zacred said.
This Helen just does good things. She helps out her friends, stops trouble at her school and is always there for anyone who needs her help. I believe that, irrespective of her age, she is a true ‘Good’,
Lyking stated.
I see your point but she is very young and couldn’t possibly be able to deal with the problems we need her to solve,
Zacred said.
Lyking looked around and saw that other than Zacred, the other two agreed that this Helen James was the right being to be a ‘Good’.
Under the rules of the panel, I call for a vote on our three candidates. If there is a tie, the leader has the casting vote,
Zacred stated.
The first candidate is Josp. Who will vote for him?
Lyking asked.
Only Weting and Zacred voted for Josp.
The next candidate is Veist from the Malin Galaxy. Who votes for him?
Zacred asked.
Only Zacred voted for this candidate.
The final one is Helen James from the Milky Way Galaxy. Who votes for her to be our ‘Good’?
Three hands went up, Lyking, Weting and Hyming. They looked at Zacred to see if he was going to agree but he failed to raise his hand.
As our rules state, with a majority in favour of Helen James, she is selected as the replacement for Tyred,
Lyking stated.
I do not agree with this,
Zacred said.
We have gone with the rules of the panel and as such you have no choice,
Lyking stated.
Yes they are the rules but if she fails, even once, I have the authority to remove her and she will no longer be a ‘Good’,
Zacred said.
The meeting broke up and Oling, Askyng, Dering and Curing were told of their decision. Curing was pleased as it was he who had found Helen and had put her forward.
It was some time before the ‘Visitants’ needed a ‘Good’ but when the need arose Zacred said that they would use Helen James.
This problem is not right for such an inexperienced ‘Good’,
Hyming said.
You all said that she had the qualities of a ‘Good’. As such she should be able to carry out this task,
Zacred said.
Hyming called for his mother to come and talk to Zacred but she stayed away. As far as she was concerned they had made the right decision and if this Helen James was a ‘Good’ then she would prove Zacred wrong.
Zacred sent Hyming to the Milky Way and the planet Earth. He was to collect this new ‘Good’, Helen James and bring her back to the cloud. In the mean time the ‘Visitants’ cloud would have moved to be closer to the Yunkery star system.
Back on Earth Helen James was unaware that she had been the centre of such important discussions, far across the universe. In a short time she would discover that her life was being changed and would never be the same again.
Chapter 2 - Go to the naughty step
8 year old Helen James had spent Saturday night at her grandparent’s house. Her widowed mother and elder sister Jenny were going to the cinema to see a film. Not only was the film not suitable for a girl of Helen’s age but from what she had read about it in the film reviews, it was not the type of film Helen wanted to watch anyway.
Staying with her grandparents allowed her to stay up later than if she was at home. Her grandparents insisted that she was in bed before the Match of the Day came on. That still allowed her to watch various things that her Nan had recorded for her on the Sky + box.
On Sunday morning she lay in until nine o’clock. Even then, if her granddad hadn’t got
