About this ebook

Helen James no longer believed in the existence of Father Christmas but she had kept him alive for her 4 year old nephew Kenneth. Today they were going to the Bulverhythe shopping centre to visit 'Father Christmas'. Kenneth asked that Helen take him in to see Father Christmas whilst his mother and Nan went shopping. As they walked through the tunnel towards the grotto Kenneth broke away from Helens grip and ran ahead. At the same time Hyming, the Visitant, wrapped himself around Helen and took her out of the tunnel and the shopping centre. Within seconds Helen and Hyming had left the Milky Way and were heading off across the universe towards the Prsnt galaxy but they couldn't enter the Galaxy without the authority of the Helvs who guarded the Galaxy and Father Christmas. Once Helen had been allowed to enter the Galaxy Hyming took her to see Father Christmas on the planet Lapand. Father Christmas was now very old and could no longer visit all the planets, such as Earth and Chrilren. It was Helens job to help get Father Christmas and get him visiting and handing out the presents again before all the children across the universe were disappointed. It was now that Helen discovered that much of the folklore she had read about Father Christmas and his helpers was fact not fiction but fact. If Helen couldn't fix this problem what would she tell Kenneth when she returns to Earth?

Chapter 1 - Father Christmas is coming to town

Helen James was a happy but sometimes a troubled 11 year old. Over the last four years she had been visited by Hyming, a ‘Visitant’ from outer space. It had been some time since the ‘Visitants’ last called on her help.

Was it that they had no more use for her or her skills? Or was it that they could find nothing that needed her specialities?

They had been exciting times travelling across the universe, seeing many different beings and putting things right but the only down side about it was that she could tell no one.

In the early days she had tried but it only brought her trouble. On the advice of her grandparents, she now says nothing.

This was a hard secret to keep, knowing the good she had done, the lives she had saved, even her own planet wouldn’t exist if it hadn’t been for her intervention.

The ‘Visitants’ were beings who patrolled the Universe looking for troubled Galaxies, Star systems or planets. It was their calling to stop these troubles but they were not able to interfere themselves, they needed the services of a ‘Good’.

They knew of only five such beings across the Universe, each one had a special goodness. The ‘Visitants’ would call on the ‘Good’ that had the skills needed for the particular problem. Helen James was a ‘Good’.

On most occasions Hyming would come and collect Helen and take her across the universe at such great speed that after she had completed the task, he could bring her back and place her where he had found her, within seconds of her leaving Earth so that no one would know she had gone.

It was exciting times for Helen she was in the second year at the Academy. Her grades were good and she was taking part in the Christmas pantomime. It may only be a very small part but she had words to deliver, unlike her friends.

Helen was enjoying building up the excitement of Christmas for her four year old nephew Kenneth. This was only really his third Christmas as he was far too young at the first one to understand anything.

During his second year he had noticed the Christmas decorations and the presents he received but that was about it.

Last year Kenneth had been more aware but he didn’t comprehend what it was all about or who this ‘Father Christmas’ was. This year was different, he went to kindergarten and they tried to explain everything to the children but he didn’t understand everything.

Helen spent time over the weekends, around at her sister’s flat playing with Kenneth. They were becoming very close. As Christmas was approaching Helen explained to Kenneth all about Father Christmas and why it was so important that he was a good boy.

But how can he see me? Kenneth asked Helen.

He can see everyone, especially little boys.

    What about girls?

Yes girls as well, she said.

I can be a little naughty, when he’s not looking.

It is when you are being naughty that he sees you. Helen said.

Kenneth was very confused. How could this old man see everywhere and everything he did? Helen noticed him sitting there thinking about all of this. It appeared that what she had said to him may be different to what he was told at kindergarten.

Is that what Miss Tucker told you?

Yes but I don’t believe it. Mum doesn’t see everything I do.

Maybe not but I bet she knows when you’ve been naughty? Helen said.

Kenneth was not too sure about this. She didn’t tell him off very much so he must be getting away with some of his naughtiness.
