In fact, if you were to look at the numbers and the different things that people were looking for, you might say that we have an obsession with our waistline. Of course, that obsession is well earned because many of us struggle with a difficulty with weight gain.
Although it is true that we live in a world that makes improper food choices a daily reality for the majority of us, there are other difficulties that can lead to a problem with our weight as well. This includes a predisposition to gain weight through genetics, as well as an imbalance in the body that needs to be corrected in order for weight loss to be achieved. It is the latter that we are going to discuss in this book, the balance of our body and how achieving a better balance can go a long way in helping us to lose weight effortlessly.
Checks and Balances Within the Body
Our body was designed to be in balance in many different ways. One of the ways is in the acidity of the body, or lack of acidity in some cases. Parts of our body, such as the skin, are more acidic than other parts of the body, and for specific reasons. It is a defense mechanism that helps to keep foreign bodies, including bacteria and viruses, from entering us and causing problems. When that system gets out of balance, we get sick.
In a similar way, our internal structure is also struggling to maintain a balance of alkalinity and acidity. When we do what is necessary to maintain a proper balance, it helps to keep our body healthy, but if it gets out of balance, a lack of health is going to be a problem for us. It is that lack of health that makes it difficult for us to maintain a healthy weight, and we may struggle with illness when our body is out of balance as well.
Can Food Really Balance the Body?
I'm sure that you have heard the saying, you are what you eat
, and that may be more of a reality than any of us have ever realized. Although there may be differences in the acidity from one body part to another, our cellular structure is designed to be at a specific pH of approximately 7.4. This is very close to a neutral pH, which would be at seven, but it is slightly on the alkaline side.
The body is a really remarkable machine, and it has several natural measures that help to maintain the pH balance within the body naturally. For example, the amount of acidity in our urine may change in order to regulate the pH in our body. In addition, our body temperature, stomach acid, and digestive processes also work together to help maintain a specific balance in the body.
