Shelley Wenger was born in York, Pennsylvania and has never left. She now lives on a small farm in southern York County, with her husband and their two sons, surrounded by the usual menagerie of farm animals and a kitten called Jumper. After she graduated from Susquehannock High School, she went on to Manor College to become a certified Veterinary Technician. She works part-time at a small animal hospital, though she also runs her own freelance business. She enjoys working from home while looking after her children. A writing career was always something that Shelley aspired to, and it was the trials and tribulations of the struggle to raise two boys which gave her the idea for several of her books in the ‘Good Mom’ series. In them she retells stories and yarns about the fun and laughs, the difficulties and the sheer frustration of it all. She also has written several books to help people make money from home. When she has time to relax Shelley likes reading and keeps a scrap book to try to save her memories, as well as her sanity. She also loves to spend time with her family and, not surprisingly with two active boys, they attend a lot of tractor and truck shows together. In the future, Shelley wants to keep writing and, as she spends a lot of time outdoors, she bought a laptop so that she can work outside. And with her children soon to be starting school it should provide her with an opportunity to do just that. I Am A Good Mom, Right? And Other Thoughts from a (Slightly) Overwhelmed Mom of Two Small Boys - Shelley Wenger
It is so hard to believe that I started this book a couple of years ago. I was a mom of a very sick newborn and his brother, who had just turned one. They were born a year and two days apart. I must have been crazy!
This e-book has been years in the making. At first, I wanted to start a mom blog but I know that there are plenty of those. I also was not sure that I would be able to come up with a new blog every week! For this reason, I decided to put all of my potential blog posts into an e-book (and potentially more).
I poured my heart and soul into this project, but life got in the way. I tried to come back to it several times without any success. I would get excited about it, but then life would get in the way again!
Throughout the years, I have worked full-time, part-time, and stayed-at-home with my babies. In 2012, I started a successful (enough for me) freelance writing business.
I have decided to branch out my freelance writing business with e-book publishing. I wrote an e-book a few years ago about digital scrapbooking to help grow my direct sales business. Recently, I wrote another about blogging to help grow my writing business. I then wrote an e-book full of advice for people who want to work at home.
I have started writing e-books and I can’t stop. The ideas are floating in my head, just waiting to come out. Since I have been so excited by my e-books, I think it is finally time to finish this one and put it out for the world! This is so personal that it might be a bit scary!
Letter to Other Overwhelmed Mothers
To Other Overwhelmed Mothers (no matter HOW many children you have),
You are not alone! Many other mothers are overwhelmed and have the very same thoughts that you do. I wrote this e-book to share my thoughts and feelings. I hope that you can relate to it and feel better in the process.
Though everyone says that the years fly by, I know that you can’t imagine it. Some days last FOREVER! However, in the great scheme of things, life does really go by too fast. I already have a four and a five-year-old! I can’t even believe it! It seems like just yesterday, we were struggling with Evan’s health.
There are going to be days when everything runs smoothly and you feel like you can do this whole parenting thing. Then, the next day really sucks. Life with children is like that. You have good and bad days. Your children are going to have good and bad days. Hopefully, you will have more good days than bad ones.
You also can’t wait until your children can get around. Then, you want to be able to talk with them. However, there are going to be times when are going to want your children to be small again.
I was always saying that I couldn’t wait until my children were in school so that I could focus on my business better. However, as we prepare for Kindergarten registration, I am completely unprepared for school!
I really hope that you enjoy my book. It felt REALLY good to get some of my feelings off of my chest!
Thank you again for listening.
Your friend,
Shelley
Making Mom Friends (It’s Important)
It is very important to find other new mothers to socialize with, especially with your first child. I was very lucky with this because I didn’t have to go out and make new friends.
When I had my first son, many of my other friends were already new mothers. Others were preparing for the birth of their first child. This gave me a lot of opportunities to talk with them as we all struggled, learning how to be mothers.
Now, we get the children together every couple of months. This time is
