Shelley Wenger
Shelley Wenger was born in York, Pennsylvania and has never left. She now lives on a small farm in southern York County, with her husband and their two sons, surrounded by the usual menagerie of farm animals and a kitten called Jumper. After she graduated from Susquehannock High School, she went on to Manor College to become a certified Veterinary Technician. She works part-time at a small animal hospital, though she also runs her own freelance business. She enjoys working from home while looking after her children. A writing career was always something that Shelley aspired to, and it was the trials and tribulations of the struggle to raise two boys which gave her the idea for several of her books in the ‘Good Mom’ series. In them she retells stories and yarns about the fun and laughs, the difficulties and the sheer frustration of it all. She also has written several books to help people make money from home. When she has time to relax Shelley likes reading and keeps a scrap book to try to save her memories, as well as her sanity. She also loves to spend time with her family and, not surprisingly with two active boys, they attend a lot of tractor and truck shows together. In the future, Shelley wants to keep writing and, as she spends a lot of time outdoors, she bought a laptop so that she can work outside. And with her children soon to be starting school it should provide her with an opportunity to do just that. Introduction
Welcome to my book: Work From Home: Can You Do It All?
My goal in writing all of my Work-From-Home e-books is to help others who want to work from home, whether they want to start their own business or find a company that will pay them to work in the privacy of their own home. My aim was to give you ways to be more successful as you work from home. I also wrote about many distractions that will keep you from being as productive as you could be.
This book may even help you to realize that you don’t want to work from home. Maybe you don’t have the necessary skills. You might realize that you won’t be able to avoid the distractions and you don’t think you will get anything done. There is nothing wrong with admitting that you don’t want to (or can’t) work from home. It is not for everyone.
However, for me, working from home is a gift. I enjoy working outside on my computer while my boys play close by.
This book is dedicated to all of those who want to work from home and do it successfully!
My Work-From-Home Journey
My work from home journey started quite a few years ago – about the time that I became a mom.
When my second child was born, he was sick. Going back to work wasn’t an option for quite a while. We spent a lot of time running back and forth to the doctor’s office and the hospital for blood work.
Once he started to feel better, I truly thought about staying home. However, the loss of income from my job added too much stress to my already busy life. I figured that there had to be another way! I struggled through several options before finding one that worked for me.
I tried direct sales. I found the perfect scrapbooking company with products that I loved, but it was hard to find people who loved to scrapbook as much as me. Plus, I was not a very good sales person! Then, I tried a lot of the work from home sites online that turned out to be scams, so I had to find another way.
I decided to start a Virtual Assistant business. However, I quickly learned that I preferred writing and blogging. That is how Virtually Shelley was started. Even now, my business continues to grow and change as I learn more and more!
During this time, I decided to go back to work part-time. My work-from-home jobs were not panning out and we needed the money. Though I was slightly jaded at my career in veterinary medicine, it was what I know and love. I would also like to think that I am good at it too!
I also realized that I need to be out of the house, interacting with people. I am much happier when I have some time away from the boys and I can be someone other than a mother.
I am dedicating this book (as well as the others) to all of
