Shelley Wenger was born in York, Pennsylvania and has never left. She now lives on a small farm in southern York County, with her husband and their two sons, surrounded by the usual menagerie of farm animals and a kitten called Jumper. After she graduated from Susquehannock High School, she went on to Manor College to become a certified Veterinary Technician. Welcome to my newest series called Your Questions Answered. My goal in writing these books is to give my readers the information that they are looking for quickly and easily.

The questions in this book all deal with writing and marketing e-books. This is a combination of the two of my previous e-books, Your Questions Answered: Top Questions about Writing Ebooks and Your Questions Answered: Top Questions about Marketing Ebooks.

While many businesses give e-books away as a part of their marketing campaign, just as many find that selling e-books is a great way to bring in some extra money.

Professional writers often sell e-books in addition to providing their writing services for others. However, there are some who sell their e-books as their only source of income. By writing several e-books and marketing them, they are able to bring in a steady income every month.

Whether you write and give away a single e-book or you decide to write as many as you can, e-books can be a great way to increase your income. This is often called passive or residual income because, after writing it and publishing it, it can be expected to sell for several years without any extra work by you (other than marketing it).

Once you are done writing your book, it is time to deal with marketing and selling it. Though it is time-consuming to write e-books, the hard work is not done once you hit the publish button.

My Work-From-Home Journey

My work from home journey started quite a few years ago – about the time that I became a mom.

When my second child was born, he was sick. Going back to work wasn’t an option for quite a while. We spent a lot of time running back and forth to the doctor’s office and the hospital for blood work.

Once he started to feel better, I truly thought about staying home. However, the loss of income from my job added too much stress to my already busy life. I figured that there had to be another way! I struggled through several options before finding one that worked for me.

I tried direct sales. I found the perfect scrapbooking company with products that I loved, but it was hard to find people who loved to scrapbook as much as me. Plus, I was not a very good sales person! Then, I tried a lot of the work from home sites online that turned out to be scams, so I had to find another way.

I decided to start a Virtual Assistant business. However, I quickly learned that I preferred writing and blogging. That is how Virtually Shelley was started. Even now, my business continues to grow and change as I learn more and more!

During this time, I decided to go back to work part-time. My work-from-home jobs were not panning out and we needed the money. Though I was slightly jaded at my career in veterinary medicine, it was what I know and love. I would also like to think that I am good at it too!

I also realized that I need to be out of the house, interacting with people. I am much happier when I have some time away from the boys and I can be someone other than a mother.

I am dedicating this book (as well as the others) to all of those who want to work from home and make some money doing what they love.

Before you write your first word (or start to do research), it is important that you are clear about several things. Here are some things to consider before you write your first e-book.

Your why. You need to know why you are writing an e-book. Do you have information that you think others will want to learn about? Are you passionate about your
