INTRODUCTION: WHY YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK

Many people dream of writing a book someday. However, the process of writing a book, even a short one, can feel like a daunting task, which is why most of the aspiring authors you meet haven't published their books yet. However, as a blogger, you're already several steps ahead of the average person who wants to write a book. You have an audience and you have content, two huge assets to any author.

Bloggers, here's why you should put the time and effort into writing and publishing a book:

    YOU ALREADY HAVE AN AUDIENCE

You could write the best book in the world, but if you don't have anyone to read it, you definitely won't sell any copies. That might not be a big deal if you're just publishing the book to be able to say you wrote one, but if you'd like to get your book in the hands of readers, you'll need a way to spread the word about your book.

That's why bloggers make perfect authors--you already have a built-in audience through your blog and your social media channels. Your audience already sees you as a trusted resource, and many of them will gladly pay for a copy of your book since it's such a low investment. Yes, people can find your book on a search on Amazon, but you'll sell far more copies to your existing fans.

YOU ALREADY HAVE A LOT OF CONTENT

If you've been blogging for a while, you probably already have a lot of great content that you could compile into a book, especially if you've been writing informative articles on a regular basis. If you've been blogging strategically, you've probably been working to write evergreen content that you can keep sharing month after month, year after year. The great news is those evergreen blog posts are the perfect start to a book.

You know that you can write because that's what you do every time you click on Publish with a new blog post. So, the big hurdle of getting in the writing habit isn't a problem for many bloggers. In fact, many authors have a blog on the side just to practice their craft. When you spend so much time writing for your blog already, it makes sense to do something else with your writing, too. For many bloggers, writing a book is the logical next step.

You've put in a lot of time creating free content for your readers through your blog posts. Why not edit and improve those posts that you worked so hard to create and turn them into a book? The great news is that you don't have to reinvent the wheel. You can use the content you already have, edit and add to it, and quickly have a substantial book to sell. I personally used this method to self publish a 128-page book in less than a month. Writing a book doesn't have to be a drawn-out, soul-sucking endeavor!

    YOU CAN GROW YOUR BUSINESS

The days when bloggers could make a living by simply running ads on their websites have passed. Many bloggers are now selling products, courses, or services to generate revenue from their blogs. If you fall into this group, having a book is really going to help you build your business. When you sell your book in other places outside of your blog like Amazon, you have the chance to reach readers who are outside of your usual sphere of influence.

By having a great book, you'll begin to build a relationship with these new readers. Just think about
