Shelley Wenger
Shelley Wenger was born in York, Pennsylvania and has never left. She now lives on a small farm in southern York County, with her husband and their two sons, surrounded by the usual menagerie of farm animals and a kitten called Jumper. After she graduated from Susquehannock High School, she went on to Manor College to become a certified Veterinary Technician. She works part-time at a small animal hospital, though she also runs her own freelance business. She enjoys working from home while looking after her children. A writing career was always something that Shelley aspired to, and it was the trials and tribulations of the struggle to raise two boys which gave her the idea for several of her books in the ‘Good Mom’ series. In them she retells stories and yarns about the fun and laughs, the difficulties and the sheer frustration of it all. She also has written several books to help people make money from home. When she has time to relax Shelley likes reading and keeps a scrap book to try to save her memories, as well as her sanity. She also loves to spend time with her family and, not surprisingly with two active boys, they attend a lot of tractor and truck shows together. In the future, Shelley wants to keep writing and, as she spends a lot of time outdoors, she bought a laptop so that she can work outside. And with her children soon to be starting school it should provide her with an opportunity to do just that. Your Questions Answered - Shelley Wenger
Welcome to my newest series called Your Questions Answered. My goal in writing these books is to give my readers the information that they are looking for quickly and easily.
The questions in this book all deal with freelance writing. There are days when I pinch myself that people pay me to work from home while writing! I just can’t believe it. I love writing and (most of the time) I enjoy it!
There are so many avenues that you can follow depending on your wants, as well as your skills. You can write magazine articles, online magazine articles, content for websites, blogs, and a whole lot more!
This book is dedicated to all of those who want to be amazed that you can write from home and people will pay you to do so!
I hope that you get all of your questions answered about freelance writing. If not, don’t hesitate to ask!
So let’s get started!
My Work From Home Journey
My work from home journey started quite a few years ago – about the time that I became a mom.
When my second child was born, he was sick. Going back to work wasn’t an option for quite a while. We spent a lot of time running back and forth to the doctor’s office and the hospital for blood work.
Once he started to feel better, I truly thought about staying home. However, the loss of income from my job added too much stress to my already busy life. I figured that there had to be another way! I struggled through several options before finding one that worked for me.
I tried direct sales. I found the perfect scrapbooking company with products that I loved, but it was hard to find people who loved to scrapbook as much as me. Plus, I was not a very good sales person! Then, I tried a lot of the work from home sites online that turned out to be scams, so I had to find another way.
I decided to start a Virtual Assistant business. However, I quickly learned that I preferred writing and blogging. That is how Virtually Shelley was started. Even now, my business continues to grow and change as I learn more and more!
During this time, I decided to go back to work part-time. My work-from-home jobs were not panning out and we needed the money. Though I was slightly jaded at my career in veterinary medicine,
