Love Others as You Love Yourself – Life will be easier - Michael Baltazar
Preface
I am not perfect; never was and never will be. But for the first thirty-five years of my life, I lied to myself and others, while pretending as if I had it all figured out. My parents were great but they let me get away with just about everything. In their eyes, I could do no wrong. Even though I was taught values and knew right from wrong, there was the fake world that was built over the years and it became my reality. It seemed real to me, but deep down inside I had always known that something was not right. I sabotaged relationships and covered up my sins like an expert. I believed that I could do no wrong and even began to trust my own lies. Basically, I was living with a seared sense of what was real. How did I finally figure this all out? I was about to lose the best thing that ever happened to me.
You see, my wife could see my lies, my flaws, my weaknesses and my true heart. She knew that I was a good person, but needed to snap out of my thirty-five year coma and start living a real life. I finally went to counseling and got professional help.
As I began to break down the walls of lies and bad habits, I began to see for the first time that life was better lived in truth. We all know the truth hurts and, for years, I had tried to protect myself from feeling any hurt. This may have been a by-product of abuse that I had experienced at a very early age. Regardless, I was on my second marriage and headed for my second divorce when I decided to stop running, hiding and pretending.
Life is great now! It is not easy and it is not always fair, but nothing can steal my joy now. I am so thankful to be living in truth. In this book, I will share with you some amazing things that I have learned since 2012. My hope is for those who can relate to my former life to be able to open the doors that I have opened. Today, my goal is to love and serve others first. It is not about me anymore. Life is so much easier by putting me second. See for yourself.
Introduction
Does it feel like your life is harder than it should be? Do you often find yourself asking, Why me??
when difficult situations arise? Does it often feel like the whole world is against you? Well, we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is your life doesn't have to be as difficult as it seems, the world is not against you, and the solution is actually much simpler than you might think.
Now for the bad news – while the world isn’t against you, today’s societal norm is. You see, every one of us is taught, from day one, that we should value ourselves above others. We grow up having this reinforced everywhere we look, and soon it becomes entrenched in how we see ourselves and the world. We come first, and everyone else comes second.
If you want to make your life easier and improve your sense of contentment and fulfillment, you only need to do one thing: change your mindset and start valuing and loving others as you love yourself. If you can do this, your life will begin to feel easier and less stressful. Every new day will bring new challenges, but when you approach them with a loving mindset, you’ll find that many of these challenges are actually opportunities in disguise.
In this book, we’ll show you how you can achieve more and live a better and easier life by prioritizing others and making an effort to see things from their point of view instead of just looking out for number one. We’ll give you several examples of situations in which a loving mindset can make all the difference, and we’ll help you with tips for ways to love and serve others, as well as ways to practice seeing with your heart and maintaining the mindset to love others as you love yourself. Are you ready to see how a new mindset can make all the difference in your life? Let’s get started!
Part 1: Life Is Hard, But It’s not as hard as You Think
Chapter 1 – Is Life Really Supposed to Be So Hard?
In the first part of this book, we’ll discuss how and why life can be so hard, what happens when you love yourself, and what happens when you love and serve others. To begin, we’ll focus on normal
life and how the
