About this ebook

Murders in London 2: 2 New cases of Inspector James, including:

V.3 "Unsolved case"

Charles Müller comes back with a third installment of Inspector James!

In this new addition, the Inspector is confronted with what could probably be his most difficult case to date. A not very well-known TV presenter dies in his flat, crushed by a shelf full of books.

Was he murdered? Was it an accident? It is James’ job to find the truth with the help of his assistant, Sergeant Georges.

But after a few days of investigation, it seems the case will only get harder...

V.4 "Guinness' murderer"

This time, Inspector James travels all the way from London to Dublin to find the murderer of an Irishman, who was poisoned by… a Guinness!

Upon arriving at Dublin Airport he meets Inspector Lloyd, who helps him with the case, a case which leads them to the other side of Ireland, to Galway, and the Aran Islands.

It is on these cold islands that they finally solve the case and find the murderer…

Murders in London 2 - Leif Pedersen

    PREFACE

    ––––––––

    POLICE PRESS STATEMENT

    We arrived at 2 p.m.

We found the body of Brian Perkins, after a neighbour reported hearing a loud noise from his apartment.

There was a pile of books on top of the body.

We realized that his bookcase had crashed over him.

It is unlikely that the weight of the bookcase alone killed Mr. Perkins.

We are looking into the possibility of a murder.

By tomorrow we will have perhaps more evidences and will be able to tell you what happened exactly.

    Any questions?

How many books fell on him?

    CHAPTER I

    The victim

Inspector James and Georges are waiting inside a flat. Frank, the forensic, is late, as usual. A man dressed in red wearing a fake beard enters the flat:

    ––––––––

Forensic: Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!

    ––––––––

Inspector James looks sad, while Georges’ asking himself what’s happening:

    ––––––––

Forensic: You don’t recognize me? I’m Frank!

Inspector: Frank? We aren’t celebrating Christmas yet!

Forensic: Ah? It’s not the 25th December yet?

Inspector: No... you made a mistake.

Forensic: Ok, forget it. What happened to this guy?

Inspector: Good question. You’re here to tell us.

Forensic: I’m still Santa today, not a forensic.

Assistant: Frank, can you do your work?

Inspector: Come on, Frank, we don’t have all the day!

Forensic: Ok, ok, I’m going to see if I find something.... Mmm, he doesn’t look very young... I think I know him, but I don’t remember where I’ve seen him before....

    Inspector: Perhaps on TV?

Forensic: Yeah, maybe. I don’t see much... I can only tell you that a lot of books fell on him.

    Inspector: How many?

Forensic: Books? James, why don’t you start counting them?

Inspector: Hahaha, ok. Are we ruling out a murder?

Forensic: Mmm... hard to say. I don’t think so. But I will do more tests, just to be sure.

    Inspector: Ok, thanks Frank.

Forensic: But it will take more than one or two days ... my morgue is already full of bodies. They are everywhere!

    Inspector: Even in the toilets?

Forensic: Even there! There are three there.

Assistant: And what do you do when you have to use the toilet?

Forensic: I go to the pub in front of the morgue. Anyway, have a nice day. See you later! Ho, ho, ho, merry Christmas!

    ––––––––

    Inspector James and Assistant:

    ––––––––

    Merry-not yet-Christmas! Bye!

    ––––––––

The forensic leaves the flat with the body. Inspector James and Georges both stay for a few minutes more before leaving too.

    CHAPTER II

    The victim’s job

It was raining outside when they exited the flat. One of those light rains, with raindrops so thin they could permeate the fabric of their coats.

    ––––––––

Inspector: Georges, I think we should head to the police station and stay there. We will ask people to come see us there.

Assistant: I think so too, sir. We won’t get wet that way.

    ––––––––

Some time after, Inspector James and his Assistant arrive at the police station.

    ––––––––

    Inspector: Georges, phone
