    Chapter One

Sarah Adams looked up at the unfamiliar building. The tall skyscraper looked down at her as its glass surface glinted from the ray of sunlight. A cold gust of wind passed by and rumpled her hair. With her hair blowing, she stared down at her jeans and sneakers as people walked by.

From a distance, she could see a crowd of people walking in and out of the building. The men wore their best suits, while the women rushed in with their stilettos and pencil skirts. Sarah felt a pang of regret to why she decided to wear casual clothes. She wasn’t exactly looking her best right now.

Taking a deep breath, she tucked her hair into her ear and marched forward. There was no point in dwelling with her attire. This was the person that she was. If clothing street clothes was her thing, then so be it.

Her confidence died down when she saw a group of people passed by. Again, wearing their best suits and pencil skirts. She should have really dressed up for this. Sarah didn’t want to ruin her chances of landing this job. She was twenty-two years old, damn it, ready to take in the big, bad world and explore its finer things.

After graduating a few months ago, with a degree in Social Media Marketer, Sarah had been determined to apply and land a few position in a well-known company. And now that she had a higher chance of getting hired, it seemed that she’d be jinxing it with her street clothes for her boss to see.

She didn’t look organized, nor presented to show her hard-worked presentation. The bag she carried on her shoulders held her prize possession. It held the most important thing right now. And that important prize possession was her presentation.

Sarah was determined to make this perfect. And by goodness’, she would. Keeping her head straight, she continued to walk forward. The elevator doors parted open, and she was allowed to step inside. Luckily, there weren’t anyone around. She didn’t want to deal with people glancing at her, though that wasn’t exactly a problem to them.

Sarah should get used to the idea of people looking away when they cast a polite glance her way. With her wearing jeans and sneakers for work, she shouldn’t be surprised if she had gotten people to look away from her.

The elevator stopped and she was allowed to step inside the seventh floor. An almost empty hallway met her gaze. Her brand new and soon-to-be colleagues swarmed around the place. Sarah tightened her grip around the strap of her bag, and moved onward. Her heart thudded against her chest, as she smiled anxiously at the lady who walked past her.

Good morning, ma’am. A friendly male voice chimed in, startling Sarah into turning around.

She found a handsome-looking man in front of her. Her green eyes meeting a pair of striking azure eyes. Sarah stood frozen in front of this man. Her pink lips parted in amazement. She couldn’t stop herself from raking her gaze over his tanned face, taking in his full lips that made her mouth water. His straight nose slightly crooked that added a mysterious, and dangerous side of him.

Never been one to study people’s body, Sarah was taken aback when she noticed that he had a few tattoos in his knuckles. She didn’t doubt the fact that this man may had other tattoos on his body. Perhaps, bigger ones, too,

Through her hazy mind, Sarah heard someone clear their throat. She broke her gaze away and stared back at those intense blue eyes. Her cheek heated as she realized that he had caught her looking at him.

    Hi. She said, breathlessly.

The gorgeous man in front of her smiled. His full set of teeth glinted against the morning rays that spilled past the window surface.

Are you here for a certain reason or something? he asked.

Sarah nodded, pulling herself out of her reverie. She couldn’t believe that she had let herself forget to why she was here.

"Uh, yes. I’m actually here for a
