Introduction
Paleo diet is all about eating like your ancestors, not your grandparents but way back about 10,000 years ago. It is all about eating contemporary and wholesome foods that the cavemen used to live on in the Paleolithic era. These foods include nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, seafood, meat (preferably free-ranging or grass-produced poultry, lamb, pork, beef, and game meat) and oils (flaxseed, walnut, macadamia, avocado, coconut, and olive). Refined sugar, legumes, cereal grains and dairy products were not a part of the diet of our ancestors.
With the passage of time and advancement in technology we are relying more and more upon processed and refined food products. Not only that but now we cannot even be sure about the nutritional value of the foods that we eat because of the addition of harmful preservatives, artificial colors, and flavors that are added to the food products to increase their shelf life and to make them testier by artificial means. All these factors and much more have caused us to be more prone to different types of dieses. Illnesses and diseases that are common now were unheard of at the time of our ancestors and their diet is one of the reasons why they were free from diseases and chorionic illnesses.
The average human at the time of our ancestors used to be athletic, agile, muscular, and tall, with longer and healthier lives, and an average human today is stressed, sleep deprived, overweight, and have an average life span that is decreasing by the day. This has lead many scientists to believe that we should switch to the diet that are bodies are accustomed to and this is the diet of our ancestors.
Don’t worry as this is not some strict diet where you have to count each calorie; in fact it is a diet where you can eat until you are no longer hungry. All you have to do is to eliminate certain foods from your diet while adding healthier options such as proteins and vegetables.
