Maura K. Hill

Maura K. Hill was born and raised in Ireland. After working in Ireland and the UK for several years, she relocated to the United States in 1995. She began her formal education in Biblical Koine Greek and Biblical Hebrew at Phillips Theological Seminary via the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma in 1996.  A diligent student of the Biblical Languages, Maura published her first Greek-to-English Translation and Study Guide to I Thessalonians in the Fall of 1997. Since then, she published many additional, original Greek-to-English translations and comprehensive study guides for the New and Old Testaments. She has also published numerous and unique Biblical research articles on various topics. Maura continues her diligent research of the Critical Greek Texts and Papyri. It is my desire to make known God’s Word and Will, so that people will have the opportunity to be saved, come to full knowledge of the truth, and live in accordance with God’s intention. God’s Word was and is and will continue to be Truth. It is the Word of Life.

I have studied and continue to study the Greek papyri and texts of the Bible extensively, and it is from these that I make my Word Translation and Study to provide this in-depth study aid.

The words that the only true God spoke are the best words to communicate His thoughts. It is because of mankind’s interference, mistranslations, etc, of what God spoke and/or what was written down, and because mankind has removed himself in his thinking so far away from God’s thoughts and words, that I endeavor to help all of us come-back to the integrity and truth of what God says - His Word - His thoughts - His will.

o Underlined text is used for the singular form of the word you to distinguish it from the plural form of the word you which is not underlined.

o Underlined text is also used for emphasis.

o In order to communicate the fullness of the emphasis when the Greek definite article is repeated both with the noun and its adjective - for example: I Corinthians 15:4 the Greek is te hemera te trite, which literally means the day the third - I translate it as "the day, the third (day)."

o Verbs in the imperfect tense are translated with the words used-to and then the meaning of the verb.

o For example: used-to teach indicates that the one teaching spent time teaching, his action of teaching continued during a past time that is now finished for some reason, not that it was a quick one-time occurrence. The one teaching taught others taking time to teach, and he may have repeated his teaching at different times and in different ways. This tense is also used to historically describe past events relating what happened.

o Verbs in the perfect tense are translated from Greek with a superscript number 2 immediately following the verb - for example: it was written². This tense indicates an action done during a past time and which has a present continuing result, meaning it is still the same at the time the verb was spoken or written. Therefore, this example could be translated as: it was written and continues written.

o The noun love¹ or the verb to love¹ comes from the Greek word agape which is God’s kind of love.

When the Biblical writers wrote, there were no punctuation marks, no chapter or verse divisions indicated, etc, as we see them today in many of our English Bible translations and versions. Therefore we must read the whole context of each particular passage of Scripture for thought-content to more clearly understand the truth of what has been written.

Also, the original language was not English, and therefore when I may write that the writer said or wrote such and such, please understand that the writer actually spoke and wrote in the original language the equivalent to that-which I state in the English language to the best of my knowledge.

I recommend that while reading this book, you also have your usual Bible and Biblical study materials open, so as to compare verses and gain greater understanding of the truth of God’s Word.

Introduction to John

The Book of John is one of four books that sets forth the four-fold earthly-life and death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. This book does not contain everything that Jesus said and/or did. It emphasizes the Lord Jesus Christ being God’s son, who is the fulfillment of the Word that God spoke regarding the Christ, which was first recorded in Genesis 3:15.

John was one of Jesus’ learning-disciples. He wrote this book after the resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ into heaven and after the out-pouring of holy spirit on the day of Pentecost (refer to Acts chapter 2). In Galatians 2:9, Paul wrote that John (along with James and Peter) was considered to be a pillar within the church and a minister to the holy-people (Christians) with a Judean/circumcision background.

John wrote this book by revelation – he received the information of what to write via his holy spirit-life (not from his intellectual memory). Some scholars estimate it to have been written between 80 and 90 A.D. from Ephesus.

Word Translation - John

Chapter 1

¹:¹In (the) beginning was the word, and the word was towards God, and the word was God - .2this (word) was in (the) beginning towards God; .3all-things came-to-pass by means of it, and without it not one-thing came-to-pass which came-to-pass²; .4in it was life, and the life was the light of the men, .5and the light shines-light in the darkness - and the darkness did not take-hold-of it.

.6There became a man having been apostled² from God named John; .7this (man) came for a witness in order that he may witness concerning the light in order that all-people may believe by means of it - .8that (man) was not the light but in order that he may witness concerning the light. .9The Light, the True (Light) which lightens every man, was coming into the world; .10He was in the world, and the world came-to-pass by means of Him, and the world did not know Him.

.11Into (His) own-places He came, and (His) own-people did not receive Him - .12but as-many-as received Him, He gave to them authority to become children of God, the (people) believing into His name, .13the (people) born - not from bloods, neither from (the) intention of flesh, nor from (the) intention of an adult-male, but - from God.

.14And the word became flesh and tented among us, and we gazed-upon his glory, glory as (the) only-begotten from (the) Father full of grace and truth - .15John witnessed concerning him and shouted² saying, "This-one was whom I said, ‘The (one) coming behind me became in-front-of me because he was first of me’" - .16because from his fullness we all received, even grace in-the-place-of grace - .17because the law was given by means of Moses, the grace and the truth came-to-pass by means of Jesus Christ.

.18Not-one-person at-any-time saw² God; the only-begotten, the (one) being into the bosom of the Father - that-one told-out (God). .19And this is the witness of John when the Judeans apostled priests and Levites from Jerusalem in order that they may ask him, Who are you? .20And he expressed-agreement and he did not deny, even he expressed-agreement that, I am not the Christ. .21And they asked him, Therefore what? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you the prophet? And he answered, No.

.22Therefore they said to him, "Who are you - in order that we may give an answer to the (people) having sent us? What do you say concerning yourself? .23He said, I (am) a sound crying-aloud in the desert-place, ‘You must make-straight the way of (the) Lord’ according as Isaiah the prophet said." .24And there were (people) having been apostled² from the Pharisees, .25and they asked him and said to him, Why therefore do you baptize if you are not the Christ neither Elijah nor the prophet?

.26John answered them saying, "I baptize in water; (in) your midst there stood² whom you did not know² - .27the (one) coming behind me of whom I am not worthy in order that I may loosen the thong of his sandal." .28These-things came-to-pass in Bethany (on the) other-side of the Jordan where John was baptizing.

.29On the morrow he observes Jesus coming towards him and he says, "Look!, the lamb of God, the (lamb) lifting the sin of the world. .30This-one is on behalf of whom I said, ‘Behind me an adult-male comes who became² in-front-of me because he was first of me.’ .31And I had not known him - but in order that he may be manifested to Israel because-of-this I came baptizing in water."

.32And John witnessed saying that, "I gazed-upon² the spirit descending as a dove from heaven and it remained on him; .33and I had not known him - but the (One) having sent me to baptize in water That-One said to me, ‘On whom ever you may see the spirit descending and remaining on him - this is the (one) baptizing in holy spirit.’ .34And I saw² and I witnessed² that this-one is the son of God."

.35On the morrow again John had stood, and two from his learning-disciples, .36and having observed Jesus walking, he says, Look!, the lamb of God; .37and the two learning-disciples heard (during) his uttering-forth and they followed Jesus.

.38But Jesus having been turned and having gazed-upon them following, says to them, What do you seek-after? And the (two) said to him, Rabbi... - which is said being translated ‘Teacher’ - ...where do you remain? .39He says to them, You must come and you will see. Therefore they went and saw where he remains, and they remained with him that day - (the) hour was as (the) tenth.

.40Andrew the brother of Simon Peter was one from the two, the (two) having heard from John and having followed him; .41this-person firstly finds the brother, (his) own (brother) Simon, and he says to him, I found² the Messiah - which is being translated ‘Christ’ - .42he led him towards Jesus. Jesus having observed him said, You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas - which is interpreted ‘Peter’.

.43On the morrow Jesus intended to go-out into Galilee, and he finds Philip and says to him, You must follow me - .44and Philip was from Bethsaida, from the city of Andrew and Peter.

.45Philip finds Nathanael and says to him, "Whom Moses wrote in the law and the prophets - we found² - Jesus son of Joseph, the (Jesus) from Nazareth. .46And Nathanael said to him, Is something good able to be from Nazareth? Philip says to him, You must come and see. .47Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him and says concerning him, Look!, truly an Israelite in whom there is not deceit."

.48Nathanael says to him, From-where do you know me? Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip sounded (to) you - I saw you being under the fig-tree. .49Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, you are the son of God, you are king of Israel. .50Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to you that I saw you down-under the fig-tree you believe - greater of these-things you will see. .51And he says to him, With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, you will see the heaven having opened² and the angels of God ascending and descending on the son of man."

Chapter 2

²:¹And on the day, the third (day), there became a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there, .2and both Jesus was called and his learning-disciples into the marriage (celebrations). .3And (after the) wine having lacked, the mother of Jesus says towards him, They do not have wine. .4Jesus says to her, "What (is that) with me and with you, woman? - my hour is not-yet come. .5His mother says to the ministers, Which thing ever he may say to you - you must do." .6But six stony water-pots were lying there according to the cleaning of the Judeans making-space by two or three measures.

.7Jesus says to them, You must fill the water-pots of water; and they filled them until above. .8And he says to them, You must draw now and you must carry to the chief-waiter; and the (ministers) carried. .9But as the chief-waiter tasted, the water having been caused-to-become² wine - and he had not known from-where it is but the ministers had known, the (ministers) having drawn² the water - the chief-waiter sounds (to) the bridegroom .10and he says to him, "Every man firstly puts the beautiful wine, and whenever they may be made-drunk the lesser (wine) - you kept² the beautiful wine until now."

.11Jesus did this beginning of the signs in Cana of Galilee and he manifested his glory; and his learning-disciples believed into him. .12After this he descended into Capernaum and his mother and brothers and his learning-disciples, and there they did not remain many days. .13And the Passover of the Judeans was near, and Jesus ascended into Jerusalem. .14And he found in the temple the (people) selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-dealers sitting-down.

.15And having made a flogging-whip from ropes, he threw-out all (animals) from the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and he poured-out the money of the money-changers, and he overturned the tables, .16and to the (people) selling the doves he said, You must lift these from-here; you must not make the house of my Father - a house of merchandise.

.17His learning-disciples were caused-to-remember that it is having been written², The zeal of Your house will devour me. .18Therefore the Judeans answered and said to him, What sign do you point-out to us that you do these-things? .19Jesus answered and said to them, You must loosen this interior-temple and in three days I will raise it up.

.20Therefore the Judeans said, Forty and six years this interior-temple was built, and you in three days will raise it up! .21But that-one spoke concerning the interior-temple - his body. .22Therefore when he was raised-up from dead-people, his learning-disciples were caused-to-remember that he said this, and they believed the writing and the word which Jesus said.

.23But as he was in Jerusalem in the Passover in the feast, many-people believed into his name viewing-with-attention the signs of him which he did. .24But Jesus himself did not trust himself to them because-of him knowing all-people .25and because he did not have a need in order that someone may witness concerning man, for he knew what was in man.

Chapter 3

³:¹But there was a man from the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Judeans; .2this (man) went towards him of night and said to him, Rabbi, we knew² that from God you came² - a teacher, for not-one-person is able to do these signs which you do except God may be with him. .3Jesus answered and said to him, With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, except someone may be born from-the-top he is not able to know the kingdom of God. .4Nicodemus says towards him, How is a man able to be born being old? He is not able to go into the womb of his mother and to be born a second-time, is he?

.5Jesus answered, "With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, except someone may be born from water and spirit he is not able to go into the kingdom of God; .6the-thing having been born² from the flesh is flesh, and the-thing having been born² from the Spirit is spirit; .7let you not marvel that I said to you it is necessary (for) you to be born from-the-top; .8the Spirit blows where He intends, and you hear its sound but you did not know² from-where it comes and where it goes - thus is every-person having been born² from the Spirit. .9Nicodemus answered and said to him, How are these-things able to come-to-pass?"

.10Jesus answered and said to him, You are the teacher of Israel and you do not know these-things! .11With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you that that-which we knew² we utter-forth and that-which we saw² we witness, and you do not receive our witness; .12if I said the earthly-things to you and you do not believe - how if-ever I may say to you the heavenly-things will you believe?

.13And not-one-person ascended² into the heaven except the (one) from heaven having descended - the son of man; .14and according as Moses heightened the snake in the desert-place, thus it is necessary (for) the son of man to be heightened .15in order that every-person believing may have eternal life in him; .16for thus God loved¹ the world so-that He gave the son, the only-begotten (son), in order that every-person believing into him may not destroy-himself but may have eternal life; .17for God did not apostle the son into the world in order that he may judge the world but in order that the world may be saved by means of him.

.18The (person) believing into him is not judged, but the (person) not believing already was judged² because he did not believe² into the name of the only-begotten son of God; .19but this is the judgment: that the light came² into the world and the men rather loved¹ the darkness than the light, for their works were evil; .20for every-person practicing slight-things hates the light and does not come towards the light in order that his works may not be refuted, .21but the (person) doing the truth comes towards the light in order that his works may be manifested that they are being caused-to-work² in God.

.22After these-things Jesus went and his learning-disciples into the Judean earth and there he spent-time with them and baptized; .23but John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim because many waters were there, and they arrived and were baptized, .24for John was not-yet thrown² into the prison.

.25Therefore a seeking came-to-pass from John’s learning-disciples with a Judean concerning cleaning, .26and they came towards John and said to him, "Rabbi, he-who was with you (on the) other-side of the Jordan, whom you bore-witness², look!, this-one baptizes and all-people go towards him."

.27John answered and said, "A man is not able to receive not-even one-thing except it may be given² to him from heaven. .28You yourselves bear me witness that I said that I am not the Christ but that I am having been apostled² in-front-of that-one. .29The (man) having the bride is a bridegroom, but the friend of the bridegroom, the (friend) having stood² and hearing him, joys with joy because-of the sound of the bridegroom; therefore this joy, my (joy) was fulfilled²; .30it is necessary (for) that-one to increase, but (for) me to be made-less."

.31The (one) coming from-the-top is over all-people: the (one) being from the earth is from the earth and utters-forth from the earth; the (one) coming from heaven is over all-people. .32That-which he saw² and heard he witnesses this, and not-one-person receives his witness; .33the (one) having received sealed his witness that God is (the) True-One, .34for whom God apostled utters-forth the spoken-matters of God for He gives the spirit not from a measure; .35the Father loves¹ the son and He gave² all-things in his hand.

.36The (person) believing into the son has eternal life, but the (person) being un-persuaded by the son will not see life but the wrath of God remains on him.

Chapter 4

⁴:¹Therefore as Jesus knew that the Pharisees heard that Jesus makes and baptizes more learning-disciples than John - .2and-so-indeed Jesus himself did not baptize but his learning-disciples - .3he left Judea and went-away again into Galilee, .4but it was necessary (for) him to go through Samaria. .5Therefore he goes into a city of Samaria being said (as) Sychar neighboring the property which Jacob gave to Joseph his son, .6and (the) spring of Jacob was there; therefore Jesus, having labored² from the journey-on-the-way, sat-down thus on the spring - (the) hour was as (the) sixth.

.7A woman from Samaria comes to draw water. Jesus says to her, You must give to me to drink - .8for his learning-disciples had gone-away into the city in order that they may buy nourishment. .9Therefore the woman, the Samaritan (woman) says to him, How do you being a Judean ask from me being a Samaritan woman to drink? - for Judeans do not associate with Samaritans. .10Jesus answered and said to her, "If you had known the free-gift of God and who is the (one) saying to you, ‘You must give to me to drink’ - ever you asked him also ever he gave living water to you."

.11The woman says to him, "Lord, you have neither a drawing-bucket and the well is deep, therefore from-where do you have the water, the living (water)? .12You are not greater of our father Jacob who gave to us the well and he drank from it and his sons and his animals, are you? .13Jesus answered and said to her, Every-person drinking from this water will thirst again; .14but who ever may drink from the water which I will give to him will never thirst into the age but the water which I will give to him will become in him a spring of water leaping into eternal life."

.15The woman says towards him, Lord, you must give to me this water in order that I may not thirst neither go-through to draw in-here. .16He says to her, "You must go, you must sound (to) your adult-male, and you must come in-here. .17The woman answered and said to him, I do not have a husband. Jesus says to her, Beautifully you said that ‘a husband I do not have,’ .18for five husbands you had and now whom you have is not your husband - you said² this true-thing."

.19The woman says to him, Lord, I view-with-attention that you are a prophet. .20Our fathers in this mountain worshipped - and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship.

.21Jesus says to her, "You must believe me, woman, that (the) hour comes when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem you will worship the Father. .22You worship that-which you did not know² - we worship that-which we knew² because the salvation is from the Judeans - .23but (the) hour comes and now is when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for even the Father seeks-after the people-of-this-kind worshipping Him.

.24God (is) Spirit, and it is necessary (for) the (people) worshipping Him to worship in spirit and truth. .25The woman says to him, I knew² that Messiah comes, the (one) being said (as) Christ; whenever that-one may come, he will announce to us all-things. .26Jesus says to her, I am the (one) uttering-forth to you. .27And on this his learning-disciples came and marveled because with a woman he uttered-forth; yet-indeed not-one-person said, What do you seek-after? or Why do you utter-forth with her?"

.28Therefore the woman left her water-pot and she went-away into the city and says to the men, .29Come-this-way, you must see a man who said to me all as-many-things-as I did; this-one is not the Christ, is he? .30They came-out from the city and came towards him. .31In between, the learning-disciples asked him saying, Rabbi, you must eat. .32But the (one) said to them, I have an eating to eat which you did not know². .33Therefore the learning-disciples said towards one-another, "Someone did not carry (food) to him to eat, did he?"

.34Jesus says to them, "My food is in order that I may do the intention of the (One) having sent me and I may make-complete His work. .35You say that ‘It is yet four-months and the harvest comes,’ don’t you? - (yes) - look!, I say to you, you must lift-up your eyes and gaze-upon the country(-areas) because they are already white towards harvest; .36the (person) harvesting receives a compensation and gathers fruit together into eternal life in order that the (One) sowing may joy together and the (person) harvesting.

.37For in this the word is true that ‘Another is the (person) sowing and another the (person) harvesting’ - .38I apostled you to harvest that-which you did not labor²; other-people labored² and you went² into their fruit. .39But from that city of the Samaritans many-people believed into him because-of the word of the woman witnessing that, He said to me all-things which I did."

.40Therefore as the Samaritans came towards him they asked him to remain with them - and he remained there two days - .41and many more-people believed because-of his word, .42and they said to the woman that, No-longer because-of your utterance we believe, for we ourselves heard² and knew² that this-person truly is the savior of the world.

.43But after the two days he came-out from-there into Galilee, .44for Jesus himself witnessed that a prophet does not have honor in (his) own fatherland; .45therefore when he went into Galilee the Galileans accepted him having seen² as-many-things-as he did in Jerusalem in the feast, for also they went into the feast; .46therefore he went again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was some kingly-person whose son was weak in Capernaum - .47this-person, having heard that Jesus is-come from Judea into Galilee, went-away towards him and he asked in order that he may descend and may heal his son, for he was about to die.

.48Therefore Jesus said towards him, If-ever you may not see signs and wonders, you may never believe. .49The kingly-person says towards him, Lord, you must descend before my young-child dies. .50Jesus says to him, You must journey - your son lives. The man believed the word which Jesus said to him and he journeyed; .51but already (during) his descending his slaves met him saying that his child lives; .52therefore he asked-to-learn the hour from them in which he had more-wellness; therefore they said to him that, "The fever left him yesterday (the) seventh hour."

.53Therefore the father knew that (it came to pass) in that hour in which Jesus said to him, Your son lives; and he believed and his whole house. .54This second sign Jesus did again having come from Judea into Galilee.

Chapter 5

⁵:¹After these-things there was a feast of the Judeans and Jesus ascended into Jerusalem. .2But there is a pool in Jerusalem on the Sheep-Gate, which is being said-also in-Hebrew Bethzatha having five pillared-porches; .3in these a multitude of the (people) being weak lay-down - blind, lame, dried; .5but some man was there thirty eight years having in his weakness.

.6Jesus, having seen this (man) lying-down and having known that he has already much time, says to him, Do you intend to become sound? .7The (man) being weak answered him, "Lord, I do not have a man in order that, whenever the water may be disturbed, he may throw me into the pool, but in which (time) I come another descends before me."

.8Jesus says to him, You must rise-up, lift your mattress, and walk. .9(a)And immediately the man became sound and he lifted his mattress and he walked. .9(b)But it was a sabbath in that day; .10therefore the Judeans said to the (man) having been attended-to², It is a sabbath and it is not permitted to you to lift your mattress. .11But he answered them, "The (man) having made me sound – that (man) said to me, ‘You must lift your mattress and walk’."

.12They asked him, "Who is the man, the (man) having said to you, ‘You must lift and walk’?" .13But the (man) having been healed had not known who he is, for Jesus moved-out (during) a crowd being in the place.

.14After these-things Jesus finds him in the temple and he said to him, Look!, you became² sound; you must no-longer sin in order that something worse may not become to you. .15The man went-away and announced to the Judeans that Jesus is the (man) having made him sound; .16and because-of-this the Judeans persecuted Jesus because he did these-things in a sabbath. .17But he answered them, My Father works until now, and I work. .18Therefore because-of-this rather the Judeans sought-after him to kill because not only did he loosen the sabbath but also he said (his) own Father (to be) God making himself equal with God.

.19Therefore Jesus answered and said to them, "With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, the son is not able to do nothing from himself if-ever he may not observe the Father doing something; for which-things ever That-One may do - these-things also the son likewise does; .20for the Father loves the son and He points-out all-things to him, which-things He does, and greater works of these He will point-out to him in order that you may marvel;

.21for wholly-as the Father raises-up the dead-people and makes-alive, thus also the son makes-alive whom he intends; .22for neither the Father judges not-one-person but He gave² all judgment to the son .23in order that all-people may honor the son according as they honor the Father; the (person) not honoring the son does not honor the Father, the (Father) having sent him. .24With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you that the (person) hearing my word and believing the (One) having sent me - he has eternal life and into judgment he does not go but he departed² from the death into the life.

.25With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you that (the) hour comes and now is when the dead-people will hear the sound of the son of God and the (people) having heard will live; .26for wholly-as the Father has life in Himself, thus also He gave life to the son to have in himself, .27and He gave authority to him to make judgment because he is (the) son of man.

.28You must not marvel-at this because (the) hour comes in which all the (people) in the memorial-places will hear his sound .29and they will journey-out - the (people) having done the good-things into resurrection of life, but the (people) having practiced the slight-things into resurrection of judgment.

.30I am not able to do nothing from myself; according as I hear I judge, and the judgment, my (judgment) is righteous because I do not seek-after the intention, my (intention), but the intention of the (One) having sent me. .31If-ever I may witness concerning myself, my witness is not true - .32another is the (One) witnessing concerning me and I knew² that the witness which He witnesses concerning me is true.

.33You apostled² (people) towards John and he bore the truth witness², .34but I do not receive the witness from man but I say these-things in order that you may be saved; .35that (man) was the lamp, the (lamp) burning and shining-light, but you intended to be exulted towards an hour in his light.

.36But I have the witness greater of John, for the works - which the Father gave² to me in order that I may make them complete, the works themselves which I do - witness concerning me that the Father apostled² me, .37and the Father having sent me That-One witnessed² concerning me. Neither His sound at-any-time did you hear², nor His seen-thing did you see², .38and His word you do not have remaining in you, because whom That-One apostled this-one you do not believe; .39you search the writings because you consider to have eternal life in them, and those are the (writings) witnessing concerning me, .40and you do not intend to come towards me in order that you may have life.

.41Glory from men I do not receive .42but I knew² you that you do not have the love¹ of God in yourselves; .43I came² in the name of my Father and you do not receive me. If-ever another may come in the name, (his) own (name), that-person you will receive; .44how are you able to believe - glory from one-another receiving, and the glory, the (glory) from the only God you do not seek-after?

.45You must not consider that I will accuse you towards the Father - Moses is the (man) accusing you into whom you hoped², .46for if you believed Moses you ever believed me, for that-person wrote concerning me; .47but if you do not believe the writings of that-person - how will you believe my spoken-matters?"

Chapter 6

⁶:¹After these-things Jesus went-away (on the) other-side of the Sea of Galilee - Tiberias. .2But a big crowd followed him because they viewed-with-attention the signs which he did on the (people) being weak. .3But Jesus went-up into the mountain and there he sat-down with his learning-disciples. .4But it was near the feast of the Judeans.

.5Therefore Jesus, having lifted-up the eyes and having gazed-upon that a big crowd comes towards him, says towards Philip, From-where may we buy breads in order that these-people may eat? - .6but he said this making-trial-of him, for he had known what he was about to do. .7Philip answered him, "Breads of two-hundred denarii are not sufficient for them in order that each-person may take a short (amount)."

.8One from his learning-disciples says to him, Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, .9There is a little-child here who has five barley breads and two little-fishes - but what are these into so-many? .10Jesus said, You must make the men to fall-up. And there was much grass in the place, therefore the adult-males fell-up - the number as five-thousand.

.11Therefore Jesus took the breads and having expressed-thanks he throughly-gave to the (people) lying-up; likewise also as-much-as they intended from the little-fishes. .12But as they were filled he says to his learning-disciples, You must gather-together the broken-pieces having exceeded in order that something may not destroy-itself.

.13Therefore they gathered-together and they filled twelve baskets of broken-pieces from the five breads, the barley (breads), which exceeded for the (people) having eaten². .14Therefore the men having seen the sign done said that, "This-person truly is the prophet, the (prophet) coming into the world." .15Therefore Jesus, having known that they are about to come and catch him away in order that they may make a king, departed again into the mountain himself only.

.16But as evening came-to-pass his learning-disciples descended on the sea, .17and having embarked into a ship they went (on the) other-side of the sea with-a-view-to Capernaum. And darkness had already come-to-pass and Jesus had not-yet come towards them, .18and the sea was throughly-raised-up (during) being blown of a great wind, .19therefore having driven² as twenty five or thirty stadiums they view-with-attention Jesus walking on the sea and becoming near the ship and were caused-fear. .20But the (one) says to them, I am, you must not be fearful.

.21Therefore they intended to take him into the ship and immediately the ship became on the earth into which they went.

.22On the morrow the crowd, the (crowd) having stood² (on the) other-side of the sea, saw that another little-ship was not there except one, and that Jesus did not come-together with his learning-disciples into the ship but only his learning-disciples went-away, .23but ships came from Tiberias near the place where they ate the bread (after) the Lord having expressed-thanks (to God), .24therefore when the crowd saw that Jesus is not there nor his learning-disciples, they embarked into the little-ships and came into Capernaum seeking-after Jesus. .25And having found him (on the) other-side of the sea they said to him, Rabbi, when did you become² here?

.26Jesus answered them and said, "With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, you seek-after me not because you saw signs but because you ate from the breads and you were fed. .27You must not work the eating, the (eating) destroying-itself, but the eating, the (eating) remaining into eternal life which the son of man will give to you, for this-person the Father, God, sealed. .28Therefore they said towards him, What may we do in order that we may work the works of God?"

.29Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God in order that you may believe into whom That-One apostled. .30Therefore they said to him, Therefore what sign do you do in order that we may see and believe you? What do you work? .31Our fathers ate the manna in the desert-place according as it is having been written², ‘Bread from heaven He gave to them to eat’.

.32Therefore Jesus said to them, "With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, Moses did not give² to you the bread from heaven but my Father gives to you the bread from heaven, the true (bread), .33for the bread of God is the (bread) descending from heaven and giving life to the world. .34Therefore they said towards him, Lord, you must always give to us this bread. .35Jesus said to them, I am the bread of the life; the (person) coming towards me may never hunger, and the (person) believing into me will never thirst at-any-time; .36but I said to you that both you saw² and you do not believe.

.37Everything which the Father gives to me will have-come towards me, and the (person) coming towards me I may never throw-out outside, .38because I descended² from the heaven not in order that I may do the intention, my (intention), but the intention of the (One) having sent me; .39but this is the intention of the (One) having sent me in order that everything which He gave² to me I may not destroy from it but I may resurrect it in the last day; .40for this is the intention of my Father in order that every-person viewing the son with-attention and believing into him may have eternal life and I may resurrect him in the last day."

.41Therefore the Judeans murmured concerning him because he said, "I am the bread, the (bread) having descended from heaven; .42and they said, This-person is Jesus the son of Joseph whose father and mother we knew², isn’t he? - (yes), how does he now say that ‘From heaven I descended²’?"

.43Jesus answered and said to them, "You must not murmur with one-another. .44Not-one-person is able to come towards me except the Father, the (Father) having sent me, may draw him, and I will resurrect him in the last day. .45It is having been written² in the prophets, ‘And all-people will be taught-people of God’; every-person having heard from the Father and having learned comes towards me - .46not that someone saw² the Father except the (one) being from God, this-person saw² the Father.

.47With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, the (person) believing has eternal life - .48I am the bread of the life. .49Your fathers ate the manna in the desert-place and they died. .50This is the bread, the (bread) from heaven descending in order that someone may eat from it and may not die; .51I am the bread, the living (bread), the (bread) from heaven having descended - if-ever someone may eat from this bread he will live into the age - but even the bread which I will give is my flesh on behalf of the life of the world. .52Therefore the Judeans fought towards one-another saying, How is this-person able to give to us (his) flesh to eat?"

.53Therefore Jesus said to them, "With-certainty, with-certainty I say to you, except you may eat the flesh of the son of man and you may drink his blood you do not have life in yourselves. .54The (person) eating my flesh and drinking my blood has eternal life and I will resurrect him in the last day; .55for my flesh is true eating and my blood is true drinking; .56the (person) eating my flesh and drinking my blood remains in me and I in him.

.57According as the living Father apostled me I also live because-of the Father, and the (person) eating me that-person also will live because-of me. .58This is the bread, the (bread) from heaven having descended - not according as the fathers ate and died - the (person) eating this bread will live into the age. .59He said these-things teaching in a synagogue in Capernaum. .60Therefore many-people from his learning-disciples having heard said, This word is hard - who is able to hear him?"

.61But Jesus having known² in himself that his learning-disciples murmur concerning it said to them, "This offends you - .62therefore if-ever you may view-with-attention the son of man ascending where he was formerly! .63The spirit is the-thing making-alive, the flesh does not profit nothing; the spoken-matters which I uttered-forth² to you are spirit and are life.

.64But there are some-people from you, the (people) not believing" - for Jesus had known from (the) beginning some-people are the (people) not believing and someone is the (person) giving him over - .65and he said, because-of-this I said² to you that not-one-person is able to come towards me except they may be having been given² to him from the Father.

.66From this many of his learning-disciples went-away into the-things behind and no-longer walked with him. .67Therefore Jesus said to the twelve, You do not intend to go also, do you? .68Simon Peter answered him, Lord, towards whom will we go-away? You have the spoken-matters of eternal life; .69and we believed² and knew² that you are the holy-one of God. .70Jesus answered them, "I selected-for-myself you the twelve, didn’t I? - (yes) - and one from you is devilish!" .71But he said (this regarding) Judas of Simon Iscariot, for this-person was about to give him over, one from the twelve.

Chapter 7

⁷:¹And after these-things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he did not intend to walk in Judea because the Judeans sought-after him to kill. .2But the feast of the Judeans was near - the Tent-Pitching; .3therefore his brothers said towards him, You must depart from-here and you must go into Judea in order that also your learning-disciples will view-with-attention your works which you do, .4for not-one-person does something in hiding and he seeks-after to be in boldness; if you do these-things you must manifest yourself to the world - .5for neither his brothers believed into him.

.6Therefore Jesus says to them, "The time, my (time) is not-yet present; but the time, your (time) is always prepared. .7The world is not able to hate you but it hates me because I witness concerning it that its works are evil. .8You must ascend into the feast; I do not ascend into this feast because my time was not-yet fulfilled²." .9But having said these-things he remained in
