GAY BAYOU SHIFTER

The passenger side of my rented jeep glowed white from my thrown smart phone. I couldn’t see the map application and that was fine. After one too many helpful route suggestions, I was lost in the Louisiana bayou.

In Dallas, roads made sense. Pick a direction and find a freeway within minutes. Here I’m stuck in one direction – ahead. To the left, I’ll sink the jeep into the bright green algae covered swamp. Some of those green lumps moved. I half wondered if there were alligators or other strange creatures.

To my right nothing moved in the clear water – that I could see. Just tall trees with thick branches in the water. Nothing I could drive the rental through, even if I knew what was in that direction.

Nice job, Wesley, I whispered. Next time, fly to Florida.

There was a thought. I’d have enough time to prepare for the White Party and all those cute muscled gay men. I let out a long sigh and remembered that one cute country boy. Six feet tall, big strapping muscles, and tanned sun-kissed skin. Probably got it from working the farm.

Damn, that was fun until he found someone else. I shrugged. At least I got one night with him and a vacation. Besides the obvious behind-the-scenes events it was nice to enjoy warmer weather. Dallas had a cold snap and Palm Beach let me heat up in more ways than one.
