    GAY WEREWOLF MATING

Darryl was quieter than a sinner in church as we drove my pickup down Thatcher’s dirt road. I looked over for a clue of where my friend’s spent his time lately.

His shoulder length dirty brown hair covered most of his face. Anything uncovered was obscured by the dark evening light. Even with a full moon I couldn’t read his expression. The constant squeezing of his hands together was a damn obvious clue something was up.

Darryl and I were friends since we were a tractor tire high. Growing up, I was the one that defended him. Kids will be kids and a skinny guy like Darryl was just too much temptation. I was big for my age then and I’m big now. Six foot two, and a size thirteen shoe as my Grandma would say.

Darryl was at least six inches shorter than me. I still saw the scrawny little kid sometimes, but damn if he didn’t turn out all right - especially lately. Guess he figured I couldn’t always be there for him. He hit the weights, took self-defense, and got a nice tight swimmer’s body. Of course, there was no real place around here to swim unless you count Miller’s pond. Good luck avoiding gunshots if he catches you.

I tapped at the steering wheel with my fist. You can tell me where you’re going, you know.

He smiled. It disappeared a second later. I told you, Tyler. Just three miles down the road, turn at the barn, then the old mine.

Well that’s just right helpful information, I let out a long sigh. You think you tell me. I swallowed away at the lump in my throat. I told you, I paused for a heartbeat, about me.
