GAY GHOST COWBOY

I climbed over the tall cast iron fence and landed with a soft scuff onto the abandoned property. I cocked my ear to the side and listened for the sound of anything worrisome.

The last thing I needed was another night in jail and have the police officers laugh at us for trying to find a ghost.

I kept still until the ambient nighttime air filled with crickets and the occasional Texas owl. I smiled, an owl was appropriate for what James and I did.

David grabbed the bars of the thick iron fence. His ebony arms – now darker under the moonless night sky – flexed out. We good, James?

I nodded and raised my hands for him to throw the bag of camera equipment over the fence. I caught it softly and nodded in satisfaction that nothing broke as I jingled the bag.

Most of our equipment was small and light. We liked it that way. It's easier to sneak into ‘haunted houses’ and run from suspicious people when you aren’t weighed down.

David pulled himself up over the fence. I let out a sigh as his biceps flexed out.

Damn shame you’re straight.
