    Introduction

This books combines the metabolism diet with a Crockpot recipe section to give you a complete choice in nutritious recipes.  If your goal is simply to eat a nutritious diet then you only need to plan your menu from the recipes here.  Both sections are meant to be combined and give you weeks of menu planning without ever repeating a recipe.  Here are some good benefits to eating a healthy diet.

    Healthy Heart

The cardiovascular system is affected by the foods we eat.  If we eat junk food, it will cause health issues such as clogged arteries, obesity, and even high blood sugar that can affect the heart.  The opposite is true too. If you eat healthy and nutritious foods then the nutrients packed in the foods will be able to work with your body and especially your heart.

The blood pressure can affect the heart if it is too high without coming down.  Often the blood pressure may be high as a result of the foods we eat especially if we consume junk food.  Diets high in salt and saturated fats may help to raise the blood pressure.  Eating foods that are naturally low in fat and salt content helps to keep the blood pressure at normal levels.  If a person is diagnosed with high blood pressure their treatment will more than likely involve a chance in diet.  You could say that dieting with nutritious foods may be a great step in helping to both prevent and treat high blood pressure.

Cholesterol levels are another thing that directly affects heart health because if you have high cholesterol levels you are at risk for having clogged arteries and veins.  This can also cause strokes, but if it hits the arteries and veins around the heart, it can cause heart attacks.  The cholesterol levels are greatly affected by the foods we eat as well as our habits (smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, etc.)  If you eat the wrong foods, foods that are high in saturated fats, you are at risk for raising your cholesterol levels.  When a person is diagnosed with high cholesterol, the first thing their health care provider may suggest is a diet change.  They are encouraged to stop eating junk food and to start consuming healthy nutritious foods.  Often by about six weeks of a good nutritious diet and exercise, the cholesterol levels will naturally lower on their own.

    Healthy Weight

So many people struggle with their weight. Obesity is a big concern for many people.  We can blame genetics on this but the biggest reason for obesity is the fast paced lifestyles of today.  We live in a fast food world, where everything is super fast and convenient.  We do not want to take the time to cook healthy home cooked meals so we opt instead to buy those fast convenient foods or go through the fast food line at our favorite restaurant.  It really is too fast and easy and it is making us sick.  The biggest concern is weight gain when we give in to this type of lifestyle.  Another name for convenient foods is junk foods.  This is food packed with preservatives, unhealthy fats, sugars, processed white flour.  None of it holds any nutritional value.  But it is fast and it tastes good.  But it is not good for us.

We can both lose weight and maintain a healthy weight level through dieting.  The amount of time it takes to lose the weight depends on how much weight you need to lose and how much you stick to the diet plan.  Exercise is something else that helps to lose the weight faster and works very well with nutrition.

    More Energy

One of the diet plans in this book is the Metabolism Diet, which is a diet that helps to boost the metabolism naturally.  The truth is all whole foods are metabolism boosting, so the Crockpot section contains just as many good recipes to help do this.  If the metabolism is raised, we have the energy to be more physically active.  A boosted metabolism also makes us feel better.  We have better mental clarity, and we feel better in our moods and emotions.  This occurs when the body is given nutrients from the foods we eat.

If we have more energy, we will
