About this ebook

This book is the amazing true story of an Australian Vietnam Veteran and his wife. It shows no matter what problem we face nothing is impossible with God. Pastor Barry Manuel says "It is a testimony to God's faithfulness in their lives and also a statement about their openness to God. They are honest in sharing about their struggles and it gives encouragement as they tell us how God brought them through those times. This book is a wonderful testimony to the amazing grace of God. The book is easy to read and understand. It is written in a simple and clear style. But it is very compelling as we follow their story and are encouraged again and again by the victory that God brings to them. I think that it is a story of hope. The hope that God gives to all who trust him." Science and reason are wonderful but very limited tools. Spiritual interventions have brought us : guidance, healing from depression, financial miracles, freedom from substance abuse and abundant living. The good news is what we have experienced is available to all. Our encouragement to the reader is to seek, trust in God's goodness and invite His presence into your life.
God loves us all and with Him all things are possible.

    Foreword

I enjoyed reading this book by Richard and Maureen. I am biased because reading their story was a walk down memory lane for me. It brought back many experiences that I shared with them as the senior pastor of the former Morphett Vale Baptist Church. They are wonderful memories.

It is a testimony to God’s faithfulness in their lives and also a statement about their openness to God. They are honest in sharing about their struggles and it gives great encouragement as they tell us how God brought them through those times. This book is a wonderful testimony to the amazing grace of God.

The book is easy to read and understand. It is written in a simple and clear style. But, it is very compelling as we follow their story and are encouraged again and again by the victory that God brings to them.

I think that it is a story of hope; the hope that God gives to all who trust him. It tells us that it does not matter what type of problems that we face God is bigger than any problem. Nothing is impossible with God.

As I have said I enjoyed reading this book. Also, I feel privileged that Richard and Maureen have asked me to write this foreword. I do that gladly and commend this book to a wide audience. I am sure that you will enjoy it, as I did, and be blessed.

    Introduction

Our aim for writing this book is to leave a legacy to our children of the experiences that have changed our lives for the better, and to give hope to people who have endured trauma, abuse and psychological hurts. They too can experience release and recovery. Being a Vietnam Veteran who was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress I have been greatly helped through these experiences by excellent mentoring from pastors and from a Christian psychologist. Sometimes the changes were dramatic at other times they were slow. The outcome of all this is that I am in a better place now than when I returned from Vietnam.

As we live our life in God’s light we can see and experience all of who God is. God’s attributes are not just His names; they depict who He is and what He does. They are more real than this world. God made us for relationship with Him so when we live in relationship with Him we can and do experience who He is. God is Love - Lord – Shepherd - Protector -Saviour - Deliverer - Holy Spirit - Provider - Righteous -Refuge - Healer - Almighty - Cornerstone - Guide - Father - Rock -Wonders - Faithful - Peace & much more. We have experienced some of Him. We are telling our story to encourage others to seek God through Jesus Christ and live in His light. God loves all His children. He is an awesome Almighty God. There is always more of Him to experience. Till we see Him face to face.

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you who walk in the light of your presence Lord! Ps89:15-17

    CHAPTER 1

    God is Love

    MC

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him 1John4:8-9

I Maureen grew up in India the daughter of Colonel Jeffrey and Elizabeth Thompson. Dad was an officer in the Indian Army. It was a privileged, sheltered life lived in many different cities and we had servants for different household chores. My parents were devout Roman Catholics and so life was centered on the church.
