As a highly intuitive person and natural empath I know how difficult it can be to be a child, teen or young adult with these abilities. This is the book I wish my own parents had while I was growing up for it would of made my life, and theirs, far easier! My own son exhibits all the qualities I did as a child and is definitely a natural empath and highly intuitive being. Raising a child with these a natural abilities, and they are natural for we all posses them as children but are taught to shut them down by our parents, society and teachers as being purely imaginative or "sissy" qualities, can be quite difficult. Children experience the feelings of others quite acutely, but have now way to properly deal with them. This book provides real advice for parents who are willing to help foster these natural gifts. It helps parents who are not themselves intuitive to understand and relate to the behaviors their child exhibits. I've never bought into the 'Indigo Child' phenomena. Frankly it's just too out there for me to buy into lock, stock and barrel. The highly Intuitive Child, however, is right on the money. This is probably the best book I've ever read on a child's natural abilities as an intuitive and empath. Kudos to Catherine Crawford for giving us a practical, compassionate, down to earth book on raising children.

I found this book fascinating and perplexing at the same time. I was not aware of the concept of the highly intuitive child and enjoyed the narrative style of the author in introducing the joys and challenges for a child and family experiencing this gift. At the same time, I found some of the suggestions for adapting to and parenting the intuitive child to present an enormous challenge for parents to balance with normal/routine parenting skill development. I found the book to be educational, easy to read and encouraging for parents whose child or children have this special ability.

There is not much in here that most parents do not already know. It was not very helpful.

When I asked for this book, I thought it was going to be about extra sensitive children, and in a way, it is. Yet it seems to focus more on children who have some sort of sixth sense. Children who have powers that we, as a conventional society do not today recognize.I think the author did sensitive children a disservice by making the focus be on something that most of society does not believe in. The parenting and discussion advice were good, but undermined by the author's insistence on paranormal abilities. It's not that I agree or disagree with the idea behind paranormal degrees of empathy, it's that I think that this book could have truly helped a wide range of sensitive children if the author had chosen not to tred into uncertain waters with her opinions about a possible sixth sense.

I am currently reading this, I have read the indigo children books and just about everything I could get my hands on, I like this book so far its got lots of good information on the differences of the children coming in today. I did notice that some of it I seemed to link to myself as well(I'm 26), if you have kids now I think any one of the indigo books or this book is good just to have on hand for reference. There seems to be a highly intuitive in every family or someone you know.

This is a useful guide to helping a sensitive child navigate life. It's well-organized and clearly written. Such a book would have been a great help to my parents when they were raising me. I'm happy to have received this book as an Early Reviewer and would recommend it.

Several in my family are intuitive. My mother was very intuitive as is my sister and myself. My children are intuitive. Two of them are moreso than the others. One, I've come to realize is more intuitive than she was ever given credit for. She has spent a lot of her time worrying and feeling other's emotions and trying so hard to please everyone but herself. I didn't realize this is part of being intuitive. Had I read this book years ago, I could have helped her to deal with those overpowering feelings from sensing other's problems. We've always accepted this within our own group as perfectly normal. It's something that just is. We've gotten along fine in life, but in reading this book I've come to realize and understand a lot more about us and our need for help in dealing with an ability that can be a bit overwhelming at times and confusing at others. An important thing I wish we had understood better is about taking in emotional energy from others. That would have helped a lot in dealing with those troubling feelings that don't seem to come from any place but are just there.I am happy to have recieved this book from the Early Reviewer group. I want my loved ones to have a copy. Learning how to deal with intuitiveness and put it into perspective is important. Crawford takes the mystery out of it and shows it simply as another aspect of personality.I wish I'd had this years ago. The sensitive people I know, including myself might have adjusted to better balanced lives with a higher regard of our own feelings.

A valuable, level-headed, grounded and resourceful book on raising the child who seems to be more sensitive to the world than the average child. Perhaps it is discouraged from most children, or children learn not to be different. But for those parents who are also intuitive, or are open to their child's "gift" here are ways to help that child cope with their specialness and also value the gift they were given. I appreciated this book especially because "New Age" books approach this subject with talk of "Indigo Children" as though they were from outer space or a new phenomenon. The author, who has worked professionally with many of these children, treats this as just another aspect of personality, one that can be used for good if encouraged and that can strengthen rather than confuse the child in their life. This is an excellent book for anyone with children, really, and especially for those with children who seem more intuitive, sensitive and empathic than most. A valuable book.

I wish I had had this book 14 years ago when my son was born. It could easily have been written about him. This book addresses the children others have labeled Indigo, but in less esoteric and new-agey tems. It demystifies empathy and intuition in children and outlines simple and practical ways to support them. Many books i've read on the subject are great at explaining the what and why of intuitive children (and adults) but offer very little real advice on the how of living with it day to day. This book, I feel, does a wonderful job of that.
