Chapter 1

He reached across and grabbed her hand. His touch sent an electric vibration up her arm. She shook from the power of his touch. Her whole body reacted just as he’d expected. His eyes promised more of that to come…

As he gently pulled her hand up to kiss it, she took a deep breath. This was so enchanting and disturbing. She’d always been so level headed, but right now she felt detached from her own body.

He looked deep into her eyes. It was as though he could see through to her very soul. She suddenly felt like she didn’t have control over her own body. He pulled her down the last step and grasped both her hands.

Nicole, I can’t get over how hauntingly beautiful you are in that midnight gown. I can’t keep my eyes off of you. He pulled back and gazed down the length of her body. It was the most erotic thing she’d ever seen. The look in his eyes made her breath come in short gasps. He knew the power he could hold over her. The only problem was he didn’t want to use his power to get her to love him.

Sebastian, I can’t accept such extravagant gifts. Don’t get me wrong, the dress and jewelry are exquisite, but too expensive. She unconsciously put her hand to the necklace at her throat. She’d never worn anything as precious as this.

She closed her eyes as her head began to swim with a dizziness that she couldn’t explain. The kiss was so light that her lips tingled as if he’d tickled them with a feather. She ran her tongue slowly around her lips and opened her eyes.

His eyes were very dark now with desire. He was watching her tongue slowly move across her lips where his lips had been only moments before. It took every ounce of his strength to keep from pulling her against him and tasting those luscious lips. But he refrained because he knew she needed to eat and also he didn’t want to rush her.

He held out his arm and she entwined her arm in his. They walked to the dining room and he pulled out her chair for her. It surprised her the gentlemanly way he treated her. Most men now days would have just went straight to their seat and not cared about her comfort.

He lightly ran his hand across her shoulder as he walked around to his chair. Just this light touch of her soft skin ignited a fire within him that only she could quench. Patience was not one of his strong points. It was going to be a test of his strength to keep from pulling her across the table and ravishing her body right there.

Gideon came in with her dinner. Tonight he served her a steak cooked to perfection and steamed vegetables with melted butter. The steak melted in her mouth. She sipped the red wine as she ate the delicious meal. If she didn’t watch out eating like this would go to her hips.

Sebastian watched her over the rim of his wine glass. Red wine was one of the things he could tolerate. He watched as she ate the steak and had to look away. Steak was one of his favorite meals when he was mortal. Now it only made him retch and gag.
