FIRST DATE

Matt sat himself down on the cream leather sofa to await Laura’s arrival with the coffee… and then he froze.

Immediately to his left was a radiator. And sticking out from behind the hot-water pipe was a long, black, hairy leg – which, if he wasn’t mistaken, belonged to a humungous spider.

His heart began to beat very fast. What should he do? Staying in the same room as a spider wasn’t an option. Well, not in normal circumstances.

But this was a first date. And it had been going so well. He and Laura had a lot in common, including their sense of humour. They’d both spent the entire second half of the evening laughing.

He’d been invited back for coffee – he couldn’t
