Hanna slid her fingers along the smooth wood finish, and sighed. Something tugged at her stomach and she focused very hard on the grain, making sure there was no space for any other thought. She knew she was making things harder for herself, but she couldn’t help it, she couldn’t stay away.

The voice behind her pierced into her concentration and she spun around, feeling ridiculous, and looked into the too-broad smile of a sales assistant.

The color will fit in with almost any nursery theme too, but this change station is available in a variety of colors, she smiled sweetly, and her eyes flicked down to Hanna’s stomach, are you pregnant?

No, I was just— she stopped when her voice cracked. A lump rose unexpectedly in her throat and she bit her cheek to stop herself from crying.

Oh, I’m sorry… the girl muttered, seeing Hanna’s expression. She hesitated, the broad smile faltering slightly before it became forced, and then she hurried away.
