When Philip Grandine handed his pregnant wife Karissa a fruit smoothie, it would have seemed like a rather touching gesture.
Philip certainly had a lot of making up to do.
He’d been caught cheating, and as a pastor at the local church, it was scandalous.
Karissa had forgiven his seedy liaisons and was hopeful that their first baby would heal the hurt.
But her good nature was clouding her judgement.
Karissa was in more danger than she could’ve imagined.
It was 2011, and Philip, 25, was a pastor at Ennerdale Road Baptist Church in Toronto, Canada.
An upstanding member of the community.
He also worked as a senior nurse in a retirement home - he was an all-round caregiver.
He was married
