Mary brushed back her soft brown hair and smiled up at the handsome doctor walking towards her. The nurses around Bellevue Grace Hospital had nicknamed him Doctor McDreamy. He had perfect, wavy black hair framing his oval face and strong, square jaw. His dark blue eyes sneaked out from his deep set eyes and contrasted with his dark olive skin. His head turned and he smiled back at Mary, his pearly white teeth seemingly twinkling in the fluorescent lighting of the hospital.

Doctor Gray. He greeted with a nod.

Mary smiled and nodded back. Doctor Herder.

There were doctors and then there were Doctors at Bellevue Grace. Doctor Herder was among those who needed the capital ‘D’ at the hospital. He was a skilled neurosurgeon, known around all across America, drawing in people from the East Coast to the heart of the nation, all to the Pacific Northwest. If it wasn’t for Doctor Herder, Bellevue Grace Hospital would’ve been another small hospital on the east side of the Puget Sound.

Thanks to his presence, they were easily up there with Seattle General Hospital right across the bridge. Most people knew that he was in line to become the Chief Surgeon once the current Chef retired. Mary heart raced as she grew closer to him. She was just an intern, trying to learn as much as she could, but with Doctor Herder around, it made it hard for her to focus on just learning.

Are you scrubbing in for the heart transplant that’s coming up? He asked, his smile never fading.

Uh… oh, uh, no. I’m um… I think Sara is, but today’s just more of a day off for me. Mary stuttered.

Sara Kim was another intern, a talented Korean doctor that came in with her. The very mere mention of a heart would cause her to race off into the operating room. She was a tiny Asian woman with silky black hair and she tapped her from behind.

Doctor Blake is looking for you. Sara informed her as she walked off.

Mary nodded and looked back up at Doctor Herder. Uh, have a good day.

She hurried off, her heart still thumping loudly as she made her way to the elevator. Doctor Herder was still single and it seemed none of the women at the hospital could make it through to his heart. Many of the nurses began to think he was gay or secretly married. The elevator doors opened and Mary walked in. As the doors closed, a large black hand made its way in, causing the doors to slide back open.

Doctor Mary. The large black doctor greeted as he walked in.

Doctor Turke. Mary replied with a smile.

Doctor Turke was the hospital’s highly skilled cardiologist, one of the best in the country. He was yet another reason for Bellevue Grace being ranked among the best hospitals in Washington. He was also dating Sara, which Mary found hilarious. Doctor Turke was a large, well built black man, easily towering over most men while Sara was easily half his size in both height and weight.
