I nervously looked out of the plane window and gasped as I saw the beautiful turquoise water below. This was my first trip on a small airplane and it was definitely frightening. The smallest bit of turbulence made it feel as though the plane would drop. I had decided to take a break from everything and visit Jamaica.

Work had thoroughly burned me out, and on top of that, I found my fiancé… ex-fiancé, cheating on me with one of his coworkers. It had all come to a head and she had to get away from it all. One of my friends had suggested visiting the Caribbean and the next thing I knew, I had purchased a ticket.

The plane began to descend towards a small runway and I gripped tightly onto my armrest. This ride was something I had purchased to get a view of the island from above, but I somewhat regretted it. Heights were definitely not my thing.

Once the plane was on the ground, I let out a small sigh of relief and tilted my head back against the seat. The others riding aboard were couples and I felt a slight bit of jealousy as I saw them smiling and laughing as they looked outside. When the plane doors opened, I quietly followed along a nearby couple and made my way back to the little office on the airstrip where I first signed up for the ride.

How was your flight? A woman at the desk asked, her accent heavy.

It was great. I’m a bit afraid of heights so the turbulence really got my adrenaline flowing, I answered.

Oh, afraid of heights? Not good. Well, if you want a bit of time to relax and enjoy the scenery, there is a path right that way. It goes down the hill, through a forest and to a private beach, the woman responded.

    Really? A private beach?

Yes, very beautiful, only locals know, the woman said. "It will make you forget about the heights
