About this ebook

Kate is getting tired of the pandemic and living in isolation. It's been months since she's had a chance to go anywhere or do anything. Luckily for her, one of her close friends, Jess, let's her know of an art class she's been attending. It has all the right, strict measures in place to keep all students well protected, and it offers people a chance to have a small outlet instead of being holed up all day.

She's a bit hesitant at first for her first class, and the teacher is a bit scary, but she finds it quiet enjoyable. Jess informs her that a classmate dropped out, leaving a longer term spot open for Kate. The second class involves drawing a nude female which Kate has done before in college. The third class introduces a dark, handsome, ebony statuesque man that gets Kate in quite the mood...

I glanced at my phone as lit up, informing me that I had received a text message. After pausing my video on my tablet, I grabbed my phone and unlocked it. It was a text message from a friend, letting me know that her art class had opened up a spot and she had held it for me to join.

Thanks but I’m not sure I want to, I typed in response.

After a few seconds, she responded back, come on girl, you’ve been holed up for too long.

I sighed and rolled my eyes. It was true, I had been a bit of a hermit after my breakup and subsequent lockdown in my city. Things had loosened up a bit and with enough distancing, certain things like art classes were opening back up again. It was something I used to be interested in but with the craziness of the world, I stepped away from it all.

How much is it and how long is the class? I typed back.

Don’t worry about the money, I got you girl. Just show up. Time is variable, my friend wrote back.

What? No, I can’t take your money.

I owe you one, the sofa cleanup, remember? She typed back.

I tilted my head and scratched my chin, trying to recall what she was talking about. After a pause, I remembered, it was at a wild party about six months back where she had destroyed a mutual friend’s sofa. I had taken the blame as their relationship had already been rocky before the party. Before typing anything further, I finally dialed her up.

Jess, even with the whole sofa incident, I can’t take your money for art class, I said, before she could even really answer the phone.

Damn girl, I haven’t even said hi yet, Jess laughed immediately.

Look, you don’t owe me for that incident, it’s long gone and in the past, I continued.

What are you talking about? It had such long lasting impact girl! Nah, you have to join up. I feel like I haven’t seen you in years! Jess responded.

It sure feels that way, doesn’t it? I sighed as I glanced at my calendar. And what do you mean variable? What kind of art class doesn’t have a start and stop time?

"The teacher is real nice and the pandemic has hit her pretty hard too. She doesn’t have the same class sizes and instead of trying
