Isn’t he beautiful?’ I said to my husband Cameron, then 33, cradling our baby Jay in my arms. ‘He’s perfect,’ he smiled. Jay, a little brother to Wills, then two, had just come into the world. I was 33 and, following a good pregnancy and easy birth, I felt so blessed.

Just two hours later, however, I experienced an explosion of excruciating pain in my head. I’d never felt anything like it before.

‘What’s wrong?’ Cameron cried as I screamed in pain.
