    Chapter One

It was the last semester of school, only a few more months until graduation. Jordan thought to herself, Today has been a very long day. I can’t wait to get home and take a hot shower. she said. Just then Antonio Sanchez crept into the classroom. Where have you been? Are you aware that you are late? Mrs. Myers, the Trig teacher asked. Yes, I’m aware… I’m sorry and it’ll never happen again. Antonio said. If this happens again, I suggest you find yourself another class for the next half of the semester; because you will fail my class. Mrs. Myers explained. Antonio took his seat without responding.

Antonio was a cute guy. He had dark hair and gray eyes, which was unusual for a Latino. Jordan secretly had a crush on Antonio. She had wanted him ever since the first day of their senior year. He was a mystery to her. Soon after that, the bell rang for the changing of classes. Jordan stole a glance of Antonio. He pretended not to see her.

Hi Jordan. a voice from the crowd called. It was Kallie, Jordan’s most trusted friend. What’s up? she continued. Are you going to stay and watch the guys practice for tomorrow’s big game? No! I can barely it make through these classes. I was up all night working on this Trig. Jordan exclaimed. That’s some pretty hard stuff. Kallie admitted. It’s not hard if you put your mind to it. Have you seen the way that Antonio has been acting? Jordan asked. Antonio who? Kallie asked. You know… Antonio Sanchez. Don’t tell me you’re still hooked on that guy. No one in school ever talks to him. He always sits alone at lunch and some of the kids in my class think that he is the guy that’s been committing all of those strange murders. Kallie revealed. I don’t think he’s doing anything. I don’t think he would hurt anyone. Besides that, he‘s cute. Jordan said.

For over six months, teenage girls had been coming up missing. Then later their bodies would be found mutilated. The police still didn’t have any leads. Something in the back of Detective Jeff Felson's mind told him that it had to be someone from the school committing the murders. All the girls had three things in common. Each of them attended the same school, they were all teenagers and they all had been in association with one student… Jordan Dean.

On a night, a couple of months ago, Jordan had invited the girls to a back-to-school slumber party. After that party, strange things had started to happen.

Felson…Black… get in here. a voice from the back office in the police station called. Another girl was found last night with the same mutilations. The D.A.’s all over my back about these murders. You two have to get your butts out there and make an arrest. Or we’ll have to deal with a couple of federal agents that she’s planning on bringing in. Chief Quinson said.

Chief Quinson had been in the same position ever since he’d been appointed. The town had never had any murders before. The citizens were shaken and all of them wanted the killer caught. The Chief thought there was a serial killer on the loose, but he had nothing to go on… no evidence, only the girls’ dead bodies.

Hi, mom, where’s Chris? Jordan asked. She’s still at work honey. You know how she gets when duty calls. Mrs. Dean said. Mom, Dad said after work he has a surprise for you. He said you’re going like it. Jordan said. What is it, sweetie? she asked. Mom, he made me promise. I can’t tell you what it is. But I am going to miss you. Jordan said cheerfully. Jordan’s parents had been
