The Nightmare and Buchannan Abbey - Lisa Anderson

    Intro:

The town had protected their kids

    So, they thought

    Now their worst fears

Would come back to terrorize them

    Chapter 1:

The young man sat alone at the table. The diner was empty. The colors seemed odd, muted and distorted. A waitress walked by. Can I get some more coffee? She kept walking as if she didn’t hear the request. Excuse me, can I get another?

She looked over her shoulder. The smile was dark and evil. She nodded her head as if she was leading him somewhere. The kind of nod of someone who was being a tease and leading at the same time. It was as if she was beckoning him to follow her. She went through the swinging door to the kitchen.

Fuck, hello?! the young man called out. Getting up he went to the kitchen door. Hello? Anyone here? He could see the waitress rounding the end of the stove area, heading deeper into the kitchen. Things were distorted here as well. A bell chimed, and he turned to see no one behind him. Going into the kitchen, he saw pigs’ feet boiling in a pot of broth, cows’ heads hanging on pegs-nothing made sense. What the fuck? He could see the waitress. Hello? Miss?

There was the sound of knives being sharpened. The scraping of metal on metal. The sound caused him to turn. Fear started to take hold. There was no one behind him. Turning around the young man cried out as he tried to block the swing of a blade ...

Waking instantly. There stood Marie. Dave, I told you that they are going to kick you out if you keep falling asleep in here. Why don’t you go home and get some rest?

Sorry ... won’t happen again. Can I get some more coffee?

Yeah, I will be right back. Marie said taking the plate. There was blood on the plate and that worried her. Dave had kept the steak knife, but it had been well done so there should have been no blood. She went to go in the back of the restaurant when Nan came in. Hey Nan, you can sit anywhere you want.

I am looking for Dave, he said he needed to talk to me about something. Nan, a chipper blonde with shoulder length hair said with a tired smile.

He’s over there in the corner. You want a soda?

Yes, please. Nan walked over to Dave. Wow, you look like you haven’t slept in ...

5 days. That’s how long it has been for me. Dave said, gripping a piece of napkin tight. His hand had a large cut on it.

    Dave what’s going on?

I have been having these nightmare’s and I’m scared. These dreams are so real and don’t understand why.

Nightmares? So, what you can’t sleep?

I can, I just don’t want to. I was talking with my doctor and we started going over my childhood and that is when they started. Dave said. The doc thought that they had something to do with my childhood and they have only gotten worse.

Listen to me they aren’t real. Nan took his hands. She could feel the tissue in his hand.

These dreams ... are real. Dave held up his hand where a large cut was. The wound was fresh, and he started to blot the blood with the napkin. "I blocked a
