    Future Flow - Marc Miles

    Contentment!

It’s Time to Open the Door to the Truth about Being Human

    CHAPTER 1

It’s time to begin realizing that the past is often just our attempts at perfection, but then looking back we see it as a series of failures which seemed perfect at the time. Yet no one person is ever willing to deem their actions as perfect. We all have our shadows and our desires and that is just part of being human. As I continue to run, my thoughts of dissatisfaction increase and at the same time my thoughts of contentment also increase. The fact is that we are all here carrying our imperfections on our journey with us, but at the end of the journey no one is looking at them but ourselves!

Angels and guides come and go, to remind us of what we already know. We travel with bundles of emotions and limitations. We are constantly seeking approval and justification for being who we are; all the time fully aware that it is all just a game of approval. Do I have enough? Am I satisfying the expectations that others put on me? Then we come to the realization that to do so and actually meet the approval and expectations of others all of the time is an impossible challenge. As we grow, so do the expectations we perceive that others put on us. But if we don’t continue to play the game then we are no longer part of the human race. And what would be worse than not being accepted?

We struggle to accept the real us because we can’t be in the game and out of the game at the same time. Part of us longs for approval and part of us despises the fact that we need it. We resist the unthinkable; that nothing we do means anything! Yet this is the truth. Nothing you do does mean anything apart from what you make it mean. This is the one rule that the governing power God has given you. You are a player in the game, but you are also the referee, umpire and the person who makes the judgment calls on how the game is going. Yet you need to ask yourself in each moment, ‘Who is winning my game? Who is scoring more points? Which part of you is controlling you? The player or the judge?

We must remember that to a degree, our life is truly made up of suffering and all we are often seeking is a pain-free exit from this. But don’t forget that all suffering is self-induced. There is no event that you can experience which directly causes you suffering. It will only ever be your internal thoughts and focus that you create from an event that leads to your mental suffering. As Neale Donald Walsch says in his book Conversations With God, Suffering is an unnecessary aspect of the human experience. As you read that how does it make you feel? Empowered or wishing and hoping to God that you don’t have a natural disaster come your way? We all have the power to respond to events in any way we choose. Life is truly just a game of perception. There is no making it or not making it, because we have all made it. Made it to where we are right now and that in itself is an achievement.

God will give you restarts and setbacks all the time. That is all life is; a game of reaching new heights and discovering who we are in the process. But through the whole adventure, understanding that there is nowhere to actually get to or be is what can release us from our ‘suffering’. Life begins when you are born and it is what you make it. It’s not a journey to anywhere in particular. They say knowledge is power and knowing that life is what you make it gives you the real power to make what you want of your life. Wherever you think that you are meant to be, there will always be someone who has made it further than you. As a result of this, you will accuse yourself of still not making it far enough.

When will you ever be where you expect yourself to be? If you are measuring yourself on five-year or ten-year goals and believing you have reached neither perfection nor your goals yet, then pat yourself on the back because you are finally realizing one of the greatest truths ever.

You are HUMAN. A human being. BEING and existing. Even with all our faults and glory, we are all here doing our utmost to live out our lives to the greatest capacity.

But this desire comes from a fear and feeling of scarcity that we only have one chance and one opportunity to get it right. What
