About this audiobook

In the revised edition of his hit book The Sacred Search, author Gary Thomas helps single people of all ages make wise marital choices, in large part by rethinking what basis those choices should be made on.

Readers are encouraged to think beyond finding their “soul mate,” an idea that has its roots in the philosophy of Plato, and instead adopt a more biblical search for a “sole mate”— someone who will walk with them on their spiritual journey.

Thomas asks, What if we focused on why to get married more than on who to marry? What if being “in love” isn’t a good enough reason to get married? And most of all, what if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy?

Amazing book, and deep insight. As a single man that wants to seek first the kingdom and righteousness there are so many key takeaways that helps allow you to discern your relationship and choose wisely. I pray that I and all the people that read this book choose their partner wisely and work together to become Christian Saints. Amen

A wonderful book on what to look for in a future spouse as a Christian. The author’s main point centers around Matthew 6:33, noting that any God-centered marriage will make seeking The Kingdom their priority.

One of the best books on dating/marriage I've read. Read it!

Okay, this wasn't at all what I expected. The author sounds very jaded, like a counselor who has seen way too many horrible marriages and badly wants to spare young people from those horrors.
Basically the whole book is a list of reasons why one should NOT get married. The last chapter is a guide for how to break off an engagement if you've been convinced that this person hasn't passed the previous tests.
Despite that, I don't actually disagree with his point (i.e. it's usually a bad idea to marry an immature or hurtful person).

It's one of the best books I've read on relationships. The author was honest and practical. He shared experiences and advice without judgment, giving guidance in choosing a partner and showing the weight of such a decision. I highly recommend it, regardless of what stage you are at.

So many people rely on "Eros" as they're main guide in finding love. This book helps you to see what really makes love last, even after Eros dies.

Full of wisdom and pointing to God. I’ll recommend this to many
