About this audiobook

I’ve spent years pushing her away. She thinks I hate her, but really, I know she deserves better than a college dropout turned tattoo artist. She’s the good girl, the complete opposite of my bad boy nature. But something about her kind eyes and heart-shaped face has always caught my attention, not that she has ever realized that with how I treat her.

I’m not a one-woman man, and I won’t allow myself to hurt Tara that way. Her mother makes her believe she’ll never be good enough. I won’t do the same when I know it’s me that’ll never measure up to the man she deserves.

But when tragedy hits home, I can’t watch another tear fall from her beautiful face, so I took something I should never have touched.

Then I let her believe a lie. I stayed silent while her heart broke in front of me. She walked away. I didn’t stop her. I should have because I learned the hard way—lies lead to consequences you’re never prepared for.

Wow, I picked this up on a whim and was blown away by all the emotions I felt while listening to the audiobook which I highly recommend. This follows Tara (Taralynn) and Shawn who have grown up together. Shawn has always denied feelings for her but she has always worn her heart on her sleeve. Shawn is not about the dating life and refuses to hurt Tara as she deserves so much more. But tragedy struck and pushed them together like a pact. What takes place next turns into lies and heartbreak… Can they be saved?
The hate-to-love tension in this book was incredible. Shawn comes off as a bad boy who’s a grump but he is so protective of Tara. Tara is a strong woman but put her heart on the line for Shawn but shuts her down. But let me tell you when the bang happens Shawn appreciates that woman with everything he has. This spice was just as fantastic. Now the plot should be illegal as my jaw was on the floor so many times. I was emotional, happy, sad and giddy throughout this whole book. What a rollercoaster!

What a wonderful book! Loved the writing, smart and deeply emotional. This book had all the feels, heartbreak, love, hate.... and the ending, just fabulous. Makes you want more, and I'm hoping that we get to read more about the rest of the characters too. Excellent read ? ? ?

I chose this because of the narrators, they were fabulous! I tend to search for anything Aiden Snow narrates. Although, the MMC took some warming up to, I was glad I hung in there and saw his growth. Good story overall. Really looking forward to Shane’s story.

5 stars book one A layered story which is described in above blurb. Voice actors made main characters real. Only the best writers can pull me into a book emotionally and this author certainly did.
