About this audiobook

The Never Too Late Series is a Sexy Romantic Comedy for the Over 30, 40, and 50 Crowds.

After two decades of looking for true love and never finding it, aging model and lingerie designer, Alexa Ranger, had finally given up searching. It’s shocking at fifty to find herself wanting a sex life again and even more shocking to be an older woman attracted to a younger man.

Thirty-eight-year-old medically retired Marine, Casey Carter, is incredibly sexy, but a relationship with the man is totally out of the question. Casey is related to her daughter’s boyfriend.

No matter how well Casey kisses, the last thing Alexa needs is another talk-show-worthy drama in her already complicated life.

I needed a change from New Adult Romance and this was the pick -- a 50-year-young, established, independent, in-her-prime woman! Add a little bit of eye-candy with a very healthy sex drive and the story is just the ticket.

The story was good -- the characters all likable, to story line straight forward, nothing distasteful in dialogue, premise and outcome -- easy! Unfortunately, I found that the narrator was not good! She was a distraction in that she was overly breathy in the dialogue of the female characters and she over emphasizes the enunciation of single and double "t" to distraction. I know this may sound petty, odd and particular, but if it weren't for the story itself and for the fact that I bought this audio book rather than received it in exchange for a review, I would have stopped listening. There are far too many good books to read and to listen to that spending time on with a book read by a distracting reader feels like a misuse of precious time.

The heroine is 50, but the narrator gives her a country club snobbish voice which doesn't fit with the character written. The narrator makes every character sound as if they are catching their breath, even when they haven't just enjoyed a breathless activity. It may be that the reader is attempting to put polish and success in the voices of the females, as all of them are successful in one respect or another, but none are hoity toity and that is what I hear.

If you're interested in a humorous May-December romance with a feisty successful heroine and eye-candy, insatiable hero, you'll do well to consider reading this book.

If you are interested in a humorous May-December romance with a feisty successful heroine and eye-candy insatiable hero to listen to, skip this audio book -- or borrow from the library for a listening without paying for the opportunity.

Casey has been discharged from the Marine Corps after injuries sustained in the war. He is living with his cousin, Sean, who is dating Alexa's daughter. Casey is attracted to Alexa and she is to him but she is older and is freaked out by the attraction and weird that her daughter and his cousin are dating. I like Alexa and Casey. Casey has his work cut out for him to make Alexa understand and accept what he feels will not go away. Alexa is used to being in control of her life and emotions. She is the one others have leaned on. Now with Casey nothing is under control. The secondary characters are a fantastic. Her friends, Regina and Lauren, help and hinder her. I loved her assistant, Sydney. He is a blast! I could picture him as he doles out advice. This got better as it went along and I look forward to the next book in the series.

ehh so I finally decided to stop reading this book. I do have to say that the story was very enjoyable and I liked how it started out. but then the authors writing just stopped putting me in. I think I finally realized at about 40% of the book that it's boring and I should start reading something better. don't get me wrong, I loved the bitchy successful Alexa and ex-military Casey but I couldn't stand that there was really no good conflict in the book and it was just kind of on an off situation. good thing this was a kindle freebie because I would hat myself wasting money on this.

I was in a bit of PNR/UF burn out mode, so I scrolled through my Nook library for something a little different to read and ran across Dating A Cougar that I downloaded months ago from the FREE section at B&N.com.

This fun and sexy contemporary romance was just what I needed to get me out of my "creature" funk. The writing was nicely done and the characters was fun, snarky and I found myself really caring about them and if they got their HEA.

Casey is a hot retired Marine in his late 30s. He can be a real alpha or as Alexa likes to call him, a caveman. But when it really counts he is sweet and caring for the people in his life. After he meets Alexa at his younger cousin's house he can't take his mind off the beautiful older woman.

Alexa is a sexy ex-model that turned business woman. She's not dated a man in over a year but after shaking hands with the young Marine, she can't stop thinking about him and the feelings he stirred up in her. She can't believe that she is so attracted to a younger man. She tries to forget about him because of the age difference but her friends push her to play with Casey to see what happens.

Through out the book Casey has his work cut out for him trying to convince Alexa that her age is no big deal to him. He likes her and wants to get to know her better. Casey and Alexa gets all kinds of advance from their friends and family during the story. And there are some real fun scenes with those crazy friends.

Casey and Alexa really heat up the pages too. There is some smoking bedroom scenes but they are tastefully done (in other words, this is not a smut book LOL).

Dating A Cougar reminded me of a mature Sexy in the City. It was a fun and quick read; I plan on reading the next book in the series, Dating Dr. Notorious. Which is about Alexa's friend, Dr. Regina Logan, doctor as in sex therapist. Think Samantha in the Sex in the City group.

Reviewed by JoAnneReview copy provided by Donna McDonaldThis was a very lighthearted but often times steamy romance that unexpectedly reeled me in from the beginning. This book had depth at times but at other times seemed shallow because of the almost erotica type read and the amount of time spent in the bedroom. It had laughter, some tears, hot romance but also their love that shone through and became a love story that enveloped two lonely people who never expected to find love again. Alexa, age 50, had only loved one other man before finally admitting to loving Casey - her daughter's father, who turned out to be gay. Casey, age 38, lost his wife who was the love of his life to cancer plus also had to make a life outside of the Marines once he was seriously injured. They shouldn't have hit it off since they had nothing in common except for the attraction that was instantly felt by both of them when they first met. The each bungled a few things along the way causing many fights and great make up sex to boot. The story followed their romance closely with many ups and downs and lots of apologies coming from both Alexa and Casey. I have not read other books by McDonald before but will definitely give the others a try and hope I enjoy them as much as I did Dating A Cougar! Favorite Quote: Alexa was used to sleeping alone, so she woke up surprised when Casey adjusted her in his arms. Looking at the clock on the nightstand, she saw it was only two. It had been almost a year since she'd been in bed with a man, but it had been much longer since she'd woken up with one. Much, much longer than that since a man had pleased her so thoroughly. Maybe never. A satisfied sigh slipped out. It was apparently loud enough to have Casey opening his eyes.
